“Nitro Nick” Pecko of Vandling pulled a three-wide race move with 10 laps remaining in the Modified main event at Mountain Speedway on Sunday, and then drove off to victory. Chip Wanamaker of Walnutport kept his opening day winning streak intact and claimed the Street Stock victory and Scott Adams of Lake Ariel dominated the Four Cylinder main. Following a tangle by the leaders with a lap remaining, Kyle Elwood of Riverhead, NY claimed the INEX Legends victory.

Brian DeFebo time trialed quickest on Saturday and then pulled the pole position for Sunday’s 40-lap main event. Although his car was quick all weekend, DeFebo didn’t get his moment to shine, when something on his car broke when the initial green flag dropped. The change of events gave the race lead to Nick Pecko.

Bobby Jones ran in fourth after one lap was complete and he quickly moved forward and passed John Fortin, Jr. for third and then got by Todd Baer for second on lap four. On the fifth circuit, Jones overtook Pecko for the top spot.

With many caution periods in the early going, Jones maintain the lead and he continued in front of the pack at the halfway mark with Pecko, Baer, Earl Paules and John Fortin, Sr. in tow.

The first of a string of lap 30 yellow flags waved when Amber Fortin and Wayne Szerencsits tangled in turns one and two. Following multiple yellows over several restart attempts, Jones held the lead. That all changed when he and DeFebo got tangled up in turns one and two. The change of events put Pecko back into the race lead, followed by Brian Sones and Fortin, Sr.

Pecko held his line and the defending champion drove off with the victory. With a newly family built/family owned car, Sones finished a career-best second, followed by J. Fortin, Sr, J. Fortin, Jr. and A. Fortin.

Chip Wanamaker time trialed quickest in Street Stock action and Bernie Uphold pulled the pole position to start off the 25-lap feature. The green flag flew and Uphold led the opening circuit over Mark Tyson, Wanamaker, Rich Emel and Brian Wozniak. With two laps complete, Wanamaker overtook Tyson for second and began to pressure Uphold.

With 11 laps complete, the caution waved when Wozniak spun in turns one and two. Once the green flag came back out, Wanamaker overtook Uphold for the lead.

A yellow flew on lap 12 when a tire went down on the Kevin Higgins and then another yellow waved on lap 15 when Tyson spun in turn four. Paul Morgan, Jr. was collected in the incident.

With Wanamaker still in command and with a lap to go, Chris Burge’s day came to an end when his car went up in smoke. Tyson and Uphold were collected in the incident because of fluid on the racetrack.

Despite a gallant effort by Wozniak, Wanamaker went on to take the victory. Higgins finished in the third spot, followed by Emel and Uphold.

Scott Adams timed quickest in the Four Cylinder division on Saturday and Tony Hilliard pulled the pole position for the 20-lap feature. The green flag waved and Hilliard led the opening lap over Larry Spencer III, John Smith, Scott Adams and Jay Skupski.

Adams wasted no time and showed the competition just how stout his car is when he passed Spencer and climbed to second on the second lap. Two laps later he overtook Hilliard for the race lead.

With Adams pulling away from the field, the race became for second. Spencer, Hilliard, Skupski and Smith swapped positions on multiple occasions and when the checkers flew, Adams was the winner, followed by Skupski, Spencer and Smith. Rookie driver, John Banashefski, grabbed the fifth spot from Hilliard on the final lap.

Brendon Bock and Brad Lowmaster took INEX Legends heat wins and started on the front row for the 20-lap main. Third place starter, Kevin Nowak made a three wide move on the start and grabbed the lead before a lap was complete. With nine laps in the books he continued in front of Kyle Ellwood and Brendon Bock.

Bock climbed to second and pressured Nowak for the lead. He overtook the leader on lap 11 but Nowak battled back to take the spot two laps later.

Kyle Soper made a late race charge and climbed to second. He got under Bock for second with five laps remaining and then challenged Nowak for the lead on the final circuit. As the pair drove off through turn two, the pair tangled. Bock was collected as well, which gave the lead to Ellwood.

Ellwood held on to take the win over Carroll, Lowmaster, Raven Schrantz and Carl Jones.
