Following time trials for the Sport Modified, Late Model and Factory Stock divisions Saturday at Mountain Speedway, Larry Spencer III of Nanticoke grabbed the race lead when Larry Fisher began to slow in the 100-lap enduro. Spencer never looked back and claimed his second career victory in the division. Time trials were held for Sunday’s main events and the fast timers were: Jason Hearne (Sport Modified), Kyle Harvell (Late Model) and Matt Mattern, Jr. (Factory Stock).

Ken Harper led the enduro field to the drop of the green flag but Larry Fisher quickly took control of the 100-lap show. Fisher led the opening circuit with Sam Ryan, Joe Russell, Tony Rispin and Larry Spencer III in tow, and then began to pull away from his competition.

With a lap complete, Russell got by Ryan for second and on then Spencer moved forward. Only two laps in, he overtook Rispin for third and then took second from Russell on lap six.

With ten laps complete, Fisher continued to set the pace, followed by Spencer, Russell, Rispin and Harry O’Neill.

Fisher began to encounter car trouble and his machine slowed lap after lap. When the 18th circuit rolled around, Spencer took the race lead. Fisher began to drop positions and O’Neill moved into the runner up spot. Ryan ran third, followed by Rispin and Scott Adams, who had worked his way toward the lead pack.

Spencer began to distance himself from second, as the battle between Rispin, Ryan and Adams heated up.

With 50 laps complete Spencer continued to show the way. Rispin had moved into the runner up position, followed by Adams, Ryan and Frank Katona, who was sidelined with engine trouble later in the event. With three laps remaining, Adams slowed when smoke bellowed from his car.

Untouchable to the end, Spencer took the enduro checkers for the second time in his career. His worst finish in the last three enduros was a second. Rispin crossed the stripe in second, followed by O’Neill, Ryan and Mike Harding.
