Brian DeFebo of Berwick, PA extended his Modified win record at Mountain Speedway Sunday when he overtook Dave Brigati following the initial start and then cruised to the checkers in the 40-lap main event. In his second outing of the season, Chip Wanamaker of Walnutport, PA took top honors in the Street Stock division, as did Scott Adams of Lake Arial, PA in the Four Cylinder class. Matt Mattern, Jr. of Mountaintop picked up his first Factory Stock feature win of the season and Brandon DeBrakeleer notched his first win of the year in INEX Legends competition. Ryan Tidman held off Matt Janisch to take the win in the ATQMRA Midget main.

Dave Brigati started from the pole in the 40-lap Modified main event and led the first circuit over Todd Bear, Brian DeFebo, Amber Fortin and Darren Scherer. The first and only caution of the event flew when Baer attempted to get underneath Brigati for second. Brigati didn’t want to give up the spot easily and Baer wasn’t content to run third and the end result was a spin by Baer in turn four.

Green flag racing resumed and Brigati spun his tires on the start, which gave DeFebo the change that he needed to take command. With 15 laps complete, DeFebo continued to lead over Brigati, Scherer, Brian Sones and John Fortin, Sr.

With DeFebo still setting the pace, Brigati made a hard run at the leader by midrace, but DeFebo remained smooth. Meanwhile, Baer worked his way back toward the front and overtook J. Fortin, Sr. for fifth on lap 20.

The top five remained the same over the closing laps and DeFebo went on to take his first win of the season and 44th overall Modified victory at the speedway. Brigati settled for second, followed by Scherer, Sones and Baer.

Heat race victories went to Todd Baer and Brian DeFebo.

Paul Morgan, Jr. started from the pole and led the opening circuit of the 25-lap Street Stock feature over Tony Hilliard, Chris Burge, Kevin Higgins and Chip Wanamaker.

With one lap complete, Burge overtook Hilliard for second and then Brian Wozniak broke the top five. He moved to the fourth spot on lap four.

With eight laps complete, Wanamaker snuck by Burge for the second spot and then the yellow flag waved when Burge and Wozniak tangled on lap 11. Both drivers rejoined the field for the restart.

With the green flag back out, Morgan and Wanamaker raced side-by-side, lap after lap. Wanamaker led by a bumper on lap 17 and then the yellow waved when Mark Tyson spun in turn four. With his lead by a bumper on the last scored lap, Wanamaker restarted as the race leader, followed by Morgan, Higgins, Burge and Hilliard.

Despite efforts from Morgan throughout the remainder of the race, Wanamaker kept his car underneath him and drove away with his second straight win of the season. Morgan finished a career-best second in the division, followed by Higgins, Burge and Wozniak.

Heat race victories went to Chris Burge and Paul Morgan, Jr.

Stephanie Moyer started from the pole position in the 20-lap Factory Stock feature, but Matt Mattern, Jr. led the first lap over Moyer and Rich Paciotti.

With four laps complete, Paciotti overtook Moyer for second and then reeled in the leader. With the race halfway complete, Mattern continued to show the way and then a lap 17 yellow slowed the pace.

Paciotti gave his all to take the lead following the restart, but he was forced to settle for second at the drop of the checkered. Mattern took the victory, which was his first of the season and second of his career.

Tony Hilliard started from the pole and quickly lost the race lead to his teammate, Larry Spencer II in the 20-lap Four Cylinder main. Spencer led lap one, followed by fourth place starter, Scott Adams. Jon Smith ran third, followed by Jay Skupski and Hilliard.

With three laps complete Spencer washed up the speedway, opening the door for Adams, who quickly took command.

Without any yellow flags, Adams’ lead began to grow and the battle was for second. On lap 11, both Skupski and Smith shot by Spencer to move into second and third respectively.

Adams was untouchable over the closing laps and cruised to his second straight victory over Skupski, Smith, Spencer and Hilliard.

Jay Skupski and Tony Hilliard were heat race winners.

Brandon DeBrakeleer started form the pole and led the first circuit of the 20-lap INEX Legends feature over Peyton Ryan, Brendon Bock, Brain Kelly and Todd McCollum.

With DeBrakeleer still at the point, Bock and Ryan battled hard for the second spot, in which Bock finally got on lap five.

A could of laps later, McCollum cracked the top five and then took fourth from Kelly, but his day was cut short when mechanical woes forced him to the infield.

Despite efforts from Bock in the final laps, DeBrakeleer held on for his first victory of the season. Bock, Ryan, Kelly and Brad Lowmaster completed the top five.

Brandon DeBrakeleer and Peyton Ryan were heat race winners.

The ultra-fast ATQMRA Midgets hit the stage with Matt Roselli on the pole for the 25-lap show. Right from the get go, Ryan Tidman took command and with only three laps complete, Matt Janisch overtook Buddy Sload for third and then set his sights on second place, Roselli.

A quick spin on lap 15 slowed the event and Tidman continued to lead. Janisch ran second at that point, followed by Roselli, Jeff Kot and Sload.

With the green flag back out, Janisch gave his all to overtake Tidman. He even tried to use lapped cars to his advantage, but Tidman didn’t give in. Tidman held on to take the victory over Janisch and Roselli.

Heat race victories went to Matt Roselli and Ryan Tidman.
