INEX Legends National Qualifier Slated for June 2nd

Mountain Speedway Promoter, Joe Callavini, is happy to announce a possible increase in the purse for both the Modified and Street Stock divisions. If 20 or more cars are signed in to compete of each of the two divisions, the Modified feature winner will earn $2,000 and the Street Stock victor will receive $600 and the second place Street Stock finisher will garner $300.

With at least 20 cars signed in to compete of each of the divisions, the rest of the payout will be increased as well, back through last place.

In an effort to help increase the Street Stock car count for not only the speedway, but also for the fans that witness the on track action, Callavini has invited any Riverhead Raceway Super Pro Trucks to join the Street Stocks. Aside from the bodies, the Super Pro Trucks are very similar to Mountain’s Street Stocks and if there is reason to believe that there is a competitive advantage with them, the Mountain tech team will work on deciding how to even out the playing field. The Super Pro Trucks must meet the Riverhead Raceway rulebook.

“The guys with the trucks don’t race every week and we’d like to give them the opportunity to race more often, if they choose to”, said Callavini. “They run 9.0:1 motors and should be pretty equal with our Street Stock field.

On another Mountain note, the track will be hosting an INEX Legends National Qualified on Sunday, June 2. Also on the card for the afternoon is a $1,000 to win, full fendered Open Competition show, meaning that any vehicle with full fenders is able to compete. There will be pre-registration for the event and more details are forthcoming.

As a special incentive to try out the pavement at Mountain Speedway this Sunday, April 28th, track management has decided to honor pit licenses from any driver’s home track. With the Modifieds, Sport Modifieds, Street Stocks, Four Cylinders, INEX Legends and Bandoleros on the card that afternoon, it gives plenty of drivers who normally don’t compete at the speedway the opportunity to be part of the Mountain Speedway action.

Mountain Speedway is just minutes from Hazleton, Pa, located on St. John’s Road, between Routes 93 and 309. Grandstand admission for all regular events is just $12 for ages 11 and older. Children 10 years of age and younger are admitted for free. Please visit www.mountainspeedway.com for the news and up to date information regarding the historic speedway.
