Tim Brown grabbed his 67th victory Saturday night at Bowman Gray Stadium – moving one step closer to his goal of breaking the record for most career
Modified wins at the legendary Madhouse.

Brown, a resident of Rural Hall, started on the outside front row with Jason Myers of Walnut Cove starting on the pole. As the two headed into turn one on the first lap, Brown won the drag race and
grabbed the lead. He never looked back, hanging on to take the checkered in the Hayes Jewelers 200 for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series. “We just had a good car tonight. It was on a rail,” said Brown.

After starting on the pole, Jason Myers had mixed feelings about his second place finish: disappointed with not taking the checkered but pleased with second considering the circumstances. “The car
was brand new. The first time it was even rolled out of the garage was yesterday. We had some bugs to work out - we worked on it all day,” said Myers. “We’ll take second in a brand new car. We know
where to go for next time.”

As always at the Stadium, the initial dash into turn one set the stage for the rest of the 200-lapper. “He won the rest from the very first start,” said Myers about Brown. “He had me pinned down off of
two. I just couldn’t get any grip up off the corner.”

With overcast skies, the occasional raindrop was falling on the quarter mile – not enough to stop the racing, but enough to slightly affect the track conditions. “The track was slick because of rain and
some speedy-dry - and it was basically on the inside,” said Brown about the initial start. “We both spun our tires, but I had a little more grip than he did.”

The caution flag waved 13 times, giving Myers plenty of chances to take to the outside and challenge Brown for the lead. “On restarts, the car was just too loose,” said Myers. “I couldn’t get enough
run to beat Tim. It didn’t help that he ran into my nerf bar every time down there in the middle of one and two.”

“It was nothing intentional,” said Brown. “With a little rain earlier, it was just super slick - and I actually got into Jason a couple times as we were going into the corner.”

At one point, Jonathan Brown of Winston-Salem made an aggressive move from fourth place, pushing Myers high on the track and allowing Danny Bohn of Huntersville a chance to take over second.
Bohn challenged Brown unsuccessfully, relinquishing his position back to Myers later in the race.

The #83 held on for the entire caution-filled endurance contest, grabbing the checkered. Myers came in second. Bohn finished third with John Smith of Mount Airy finishing in fourth.

In the Classic Muscle Sportsman Series, Derek Stoltz of Walkertown powered forward to grab the win, fending off Taylor Branch of Lewisville – who finished second. Barry Edwards of Pinnacle followed
in third.

The checkered flag waved just in time for Justin Taylor of King. As Taylor battled with K.J. Stimpson of Lewisville for the lead, the two collided. Taylor’s car was limping away with a flat tire when the
time limit for the race expired and he was declared the winner in the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series.

In the Summer Shootout Stadium Stock Series, Derek Taylor of Yadkinville brought home the checkered for the first 15-lapper. The second race was postponed until next week due to curfew.
