Saturday night, June 1st is the final chance for drivers in the headlining Tour-Type Modifieds sponsored by EKeys 4 Cars to prepare for the highest paying race of the season at Star Speedway, the June 15 SBM 125 Modified Open.

The NASCAR Modified Tour's reigning champion Doug Coby will travel in from Milford, Conn., to get some extra laps in preparation for the big event, as will Anthony Nocella of Woburn, Mass., who will make his first laps of '13 at Star Saturday.

Saturday's EKeys 40-lap Modified event carries added significance because the points leader at the end of Saturday night will be the only guaranteed starter in the SBM 125 in two weeks. Currently '12 Star Champion Jacob Dore leads the standings with 147 points, but only by a single point over '11 Champion Josh Cantara.

Depending on heat race points, that likely means that if either Dore or Cantara wins on Saturday, they will be locked into the SBM field. Todd Annarummo (140) , Mike Douglas Jr. (139) and Kevin Iannarelli (133) also have a chance to be the standings leader when the dust settles on the expected 20 car field at Star Saturday night.

The month of June also begins with another Strickly Stock feature. This division has brought Star some of its best racing so far this season. "Slammin" Sam Peabody leads the early standings by six markers over Russ Douphinette. The Roadrunners will return, as will the new "Star Four Mods" division.

The "Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association" will make their annual appearance on Saturday, June 1 as well. The Maine based group brings race cars from the '50's, 60's and '70's back to Star with their unique brand of Vintage racing where drivers do more than just ride around race tracks. They really race!

On Saturday racing begins at 6:06 PM. Admission for this crucial June 1 event is only $13 for adults, $10 for seniors and juniors, with kids 10 and under admitted FREE of charge.
