In conjunction with round no. 3 of the Mountain Madness Enduro Series, an INEX National Qualifier and $1,000 to win Open Competition show was held Sunday at Mountain Speedway. Several classes of INEX Legends divisions were present and they all competed in a 30-lap feature with Brendon Bock of Long Island, NY taking the impressive overall victory. Scott Riggleman of Brick, NJ wasted no time moving to the front of the field and holding off TJ Kapish for the 6/8-cylinder enduro victory and Larry Spencer III of Lake Ariel, PA barely edged Sam Ryan in the closing laps to score his third 4-cylinder enduro victory in his last three starts at the speedway. With a borrowed car, Scott Adams of Lake Ariel, PA dominated the majority of the Open Competition show to claim the $1,000 prize.

After splitting heat race victories earlier in the afternoon, Brendon Bock and Raven Schrantz shared the front row for the start of the 30-lap INEX Legends national Qualifier. Bock jumped out to the race lead and Schrantz slipped into second.

Brad Lowmaster climbed by Schrantz and into second as Mitch Dowd and Mike Carroll, Jr. ran in the top five. Schrantz then slid back a couple of spots in the early going and then gained the positions back in the latter half of the event.

With ease, Bock pulled of the victory over Carroll, Lowmaster, Schrantz and Dowd.

Fourteen cars started from the 100-lap 6/8-cylinder enduro and Scott Sipe quickly grabbed the race lead and Scott Riggleman moved to second.

Riggleman hounded the race leader and eventually took the top spot. Meanwhile, Sipe had his hands full with TJ Kapish, Paul Hartwig, Jr. and Joe Stutzman.

Despite a mid race tangle involving Hartwig and Sipe that helped Kapish climb to second, Riggleman had the field covered and went on to take his second enduro victory of the year. Kapish settled for second, followed by Sipe, Hartwig and Stutzman.

Ed Flynn led the Four Cylinder field to the drop of the green flag in the second 100-lap enduro and Sam Ryan quickly took command. With a handful of laps complete, Larry Spencer III ran second and Scott Adams had moved to third.

With Ryan still showing the way, the only red flag of the event was thrown when Adams’ car erupted into flames. He quickly stopped in turn three and exited his vehicle without a scratch.

Spencer got by Ryan to take the lead in the second half of the event, but Ryan stuck with the leader. The pair approached lapped traffic and with 11 laps remaining, Ryan regained the spot. However, Spencer came back to retake what he had just lost.

Spencer went on to take the checkers over Ryan, and Mike Harding. Devin Nethercott finished a career-best fourth and Flynn rounded out the top five.

A $1,000 to win, Open Competition show was held and several drivers took advantage of the opportunity. Chris Burge had his Street Stock on hand and took the lead in the early going, even though his engine seemed to be breaking up.

Scott Adams, who had borrowed a Factory Stock from Paul Morgan, Jr. ran in second with Jimmy White, Jr. in third, followed by enduro racer Scott Sipe in fourth.

With approx. nine laps complete, Burge’s day ended in a hurry when his engine expired in turn four. The turn of events moved Adams to the lead, followed by White and Sipe.

Adams was uncontested over the remainder of the show and cruised to victory over White, Sipe, Sam Ryan and Joe Stutzman.
