The dust is still settling from one of the most challenging weekends for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series at Bowman Gray Stadium.

With a two-day show, the Mod Squad was put to the test with a 100-lap race on Friday and another 100-lapper on Saturday. And with a full-field draw in both races, the points leaders were in for a
challenge.

Burt Myers of Walnut Cove entered Friday night with a small points lead and unfortunately drew 20th as his starting spot. And to make things even worse, Myers wasn’t pleased with the condition of his car.

“We didn’t quite have the car where we needed it,” said Myers.

Myers fought forward to a seventh place finish, but his primary points rival, John Smith of Mount Airy, claimed the checkered – moving up from second into the points lead. “What a crew, what a team - we
stick together,” said Smith. “You couldn’t write a script better than this.”

Smith luckily drew the pole as his start, but he knows that he had done the hard work necessary to capitalize on that luck. “When you get up there, you’ve got to finish well. We’ve been fortunate,” said
Smith. “I had the best car I’ve had all year tonight. We made big gains on it.”

But while Myers was disappointed with his Friday night performance, there was a silver lining: He was able to use a few lessons from Friday to tweak his car for Saturday.

“Starting 20th, of course, was something that really hurt us – but it helped us for tonight because it allowed us to get our car dialed in,” said Myers. “We made a couple of adjustments, and man – that thing
was awesome.”

Myers drew fourth as his start and claimed the lead in the early parts of the race after slipping by Lee Jeffreys of Wallburg on the outside during a restart. His fans hoped that his points lead was reclaimed as
Myers took the checkered. But Smith, who drew fifth, finished in third – tying him with Myers for the points lead.

Tim Brown of Rural Hall finished fifth and fourth to maintain his third place points ranking. And although Jason Myers of Walnut Cove stays fourth in the points, his fourth and eighth place finishes have him
losing a little ground.

In the Classic Muscle Sportsman Series, Mack Little of Kernersville takes over the points lead. Noah Triplett of Tyro took the checkered in the first race – his third win in a row – but finished 17th in the
second race to slip down to second in the points.

Disaster struck for David Creed of Mount Airy after mechanical issues prevented him from even starting the race for the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series on Saturday, dropping him out of the points
lead down to third. Doug Wall of Pfafftown takes over the top spot, while Kris Hoots of Mocksville jumps up to second.

In the Summer Shootout Stadium Stock Series, an incredibly tight points race is developing. A.J. Sanders of Mocksville finished second on Saturday, moving up to tie third-place finisher Jason Keaton of
Mocksville for the points lead.

That points race will come to a head this Saturday – it’s the annual Stadium Stock 50, the longest and most prestigious race of the season for the Stadium Stock Series. The Modifieds will compete in twin
25s, plus racing for the Sportsman and Street Stock Divisions – and the night will end with the always wild 109 U-Pull-It Chain Race.

Gates open at 6:00 for practice and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Friday night and Saturday night. Ticket prices, directions, and more information can be found online at www.bowmangrayracing.com
