Following the announcement last week that most of the divisions at Mountain Speedway will compete more often this season, both fans and drivers headed to the track on Saturday night to take in the action. Brian DeFebo of Berwick continued in his winning ways and claimed his fifth straight victory of the season. Chris Burge of Mountaintop claimed his first Street Stock feature win of the season and Rich Paciotti of Kunkletown notched his first Factory Stock victory of the year. Scott Adams of Lake Ariel remains unbeaten in Four Cylinder action and notched his sixth straight win and Long Island’s Mike Renn dominated the 4C Super Modified event.

Wayne Szerencsits started from the pole position in the 30-lap Modified main event, He was overtaken by Brian DeFebo before a lap was scored. Kyle Ebersole, who made his first visit to the speedway since 2011 climbed into second.

With DeFebo still in command, Chris Young, who made his first Mountain Modified start, moved by Szerencsits for fourth, But a couple of laps later Szerencsits regained the position.

The yellow flag never flew during the entire show, which allowed DeFebo to gain a healthy advantage over Ebersole. Meanwhile, Dan Speeney ran third.

Untouched to the finish, DeFebo took the checkered flag to notch his fifth win of the year over Ebersole, Speeney, Szerencsits and Young.

Ebersole picked up the heat race victory.

Tony Hilliard led the Street Stock field to the green flag in the 25-lap Street Stock feature. He led the opening lap over Rich Emel, Brian Wozniak, Randy Schlenker and Charlie Castiglione. With three laps in the books Emel grabbed the top spot. Meanwhile, Chris Burge pulled off a three wide pass to take fourth and then got by Hilliard for third.

With five laps complete, Burge snuck by Wozniak for second and then did a bump and run on Emel to take the race lead on lap 6.

Hilliard’s day was cut short on lap 10 when his car experienced rear end issues and following the restart, Wozniak, Kevin Higgins and Steve Shultz battled hard. All three drivers shot by second place Emel and then continued to do battle behind Burge.

Lap after lap Higgins battled Wozniak for second and both Shultz and Castiglione fought right behind them hoping that someone would slip up.

The slip up never happened and Burge took the checkers for his first win of the season. Higgins edged Wozniak for second at the stripe. Shultz and Castiglione completed the top five.

Heat race victories went to Chris Burge and Charlie Castiglione.

Dan Pawlicki started from the pole position and led the first circuit of the 20-lap Factory Stock feature over Rich Paciotti, Matt Mattern, Jr, Scott Adams and Stephanie Moyer.

Paciotti worked the high groove around Pawlicki to take the race lead on the second lap.

The top five remained stable until lap 17 when Adams used a lapped car as a pick to make a three wide pass on Mattern work for position. While racing hard, the cars touched, which resulted in a flat tire for Mattern. It was the only caution of the show.

Green flag racing resumed and Paciotti was untouchable over the final laps. Adams overtook Pawlicki in the late going for second. Pawlicki, Moyer and TJ Kapish completed the top five.

Matt Mattern, Jr. and Rich Paciotti scored heat race wins.

Tony Hilliard started from the pole position and was overtaken for the lead by Jay Skupski following the start of the 20-lap Four Cylinder main. Larry Spencer III climbed to second and was followed by Scott Adams.

With only one lap in the books, Adams moved past Spencer and into the runner up spot. He climbed to the rear bumper of Skupski and stayed there until lap nine, as the pair attempted to lap Joe Russell.

While trying to make it past Russell on the low side in turn two, Skupski got slowed up and then spun when he got into the back of the Russell machine. The turn of events moved Adams to the point.

Green flag racing resumed and Skupski climbed back toward the front in a hurry. He ran in second on the final lap and nearly pulled off the victory in the final corner when he took a look underneath of Adams, but fell a few feet short as Adams claimed his sixth straight victory. Spencer, Russell and Tom Cavagnino rounded out the top five.

Scott Adams and Jay Skupski were heat race winners.

After winning his heat race earlier in the evening, Mike Renn took the lead on lap five of the 20-lap 4C Super Modified show. He never looked back and scored his second win in his second stop at the speedway this season.
