With many fans in the grandstands to take in the action Saturday night at Mountain Speedway, Berwick’s Brian DeFebo continued his winning form and cruised to his sixth Modified victory of the season. Jason Hearne of New Egypt, NJ notched his third Sport Modified win of the year and Kyle Harvell of New York, NY absolutely dominated the Late Model main to grab his second win of the season. Kevin Higgins of Alden grabbed his second Street Stock victory of the year and Scott Adams picked up a pair of victories. His first came in the Factory Stock class, which was his first win in the division since 2008 and his second win of the evening cam in the Four Cylinder main, which was his seventh straight win of the year.

Wayne Szerencsits started from the pole position and led the first circuit of the 30-lap Modified main event over Dan Speeney, Alan Creveling, Brian DeFebo and Amber Fortin. Following a lap two yellow, Szerencsits lost the handle on his machine in turns three and four, which handed the lead to Speeney.

Creveling restarted in second and was overtaken by DeFebo for the spot on the restart. It only took a lap afterward for DeFebo to grab the lead and begin to check out.

Several yellows slowed the pace of the event in the early going and with 14 laps complete, DeFebo continued to set the pace over Speeney, John Fortin, Sr, Creveling and Szerencsits, who climbed to fourth at the halfway mark.

Untouchable in the final laps, DeFebo cruised to the checkers for his sixth win of the season. Speeney finished a career-best second, followed by Fortin, Sr.

Wayne Szerencsits and Brian DeFebo took heat race victories.

Despite a low car count for the 30-lap feature and in what might have been the final Sport Modified feature of the year at the speedway, Jason Hearne sat on the pole and never relinquished the spot, as he cruised to take his third win of the season over Barry Callavini and Eric Banashefski.

Riley Moczulski started from the pole position and was overtaken by Kyle Harvell before a lap was complete in the 30-lap Late Model feature. Moczulski tucked into the second spot, followed by Mitch Hawk, Mark Tyson and Frank Hughes.

The field began to split up during the event and the best battle on the track was for the fourth spot between Hughes and Tyson.

In a dominating performance, Harvell cruised to his second win of the season. Moczulski finished a career-best second, followed by Hawk.

Harvell was also the heat race winner.

Bernie Uphold led the Street Stock field to the drop of the green flag and Steve Shultz bolted to the lead. Chris Burge followed through to take second, followed by Uphold, Kevin Higgins and Randy Schlenker.

With Shultz still leading the way and with eight laps on the scoreboard, Paul Morgan, Jr. got by Uphold to take fifth.

The leader’s car began to show a tight condition and on lap 13, Burge closed in and drove under Shultz. The par ran side by side for many laps and Burge took the lead. Shultz regained the spot on lap 16 before the pair spun in turn two on lap 17. The change of events gave Higgins the lead.

Uncontested over the remaining circuits, Higgins was uncontested for the top spot and took his second win of the season over Schlenker, Morgan, Shultz and Burge.

Bernie Uphold and Kevin Higgins picked up heat race victories.

When the green flag dropped for the 20-lap Factory Stock feature, Scott Adams grabbed the lead from Stephanie Moyer and was never challenged for the spot. He went on to take the victory over Matt Mattern, Jr. and Moyer. The win marks his first in the division since August 31, 2008.

Larry Spencer III led the Four Cylinder field to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap main before Tony Hilliard took control of the show. Before a lap was scored, the red flag waved when Tom Cavagnino spun and slapped the turn one guiderail with the driver’s side of his ride. Luckily, he climbed under his own power.

Green flag racing resumed and Hilliard led the first circuit over Spencer, Scott Adams, Jay Skupski and John Smith.

With one lap in the books, Adams disposed of Spencer and set his sights on Hilliard. With four laps complete, Adams took the lead.

As Adams began to check out the battle became intense from second through fifth. Smith and Spencer swapped the fourth position multiple times before Skupski overtook Hilliard for second on lap 11.

Without a yellow flag to tighten up the field, Adams took his seventh straight win of the season over Skupski, Hilliard, Spencer and Smith.

Heat race victories went to Jay Skupski and Tony Hilliard.
