The top three finishers were grinning ear to ear Saturday night in the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series at Bowman Gray Stadium. Burt Myers and Jason Myers of
Walnut Cove finished first and second, with second-year racer Tony Black of Lexington proudly taking third.

Black drew the pole for the start of Saturday’s 100-lapper, with Chris Fleming of Mount Airy drawing the outside front row as his starting spot. Black claimed the lead on the initial start with Fleming
falling back to second and Burt Myers moving up from a fourth place start to third.

On the first double-file restart, Fleming tried again to take the lead with an outside row challenge. But the risky move backfired as Fleming was caught on the outside and Myers moved up to second.

The No. 1 car of Myers was then in a position to take to the outside during the next double-file restart and make a play at the lead. But Black was able to defend his spot when Myers put him to the
test.

“Before the race started, we were worried about Burt. He’s so fast and he’s so good on the restarts,” said Black. “Once he jumped to the outside, I knew I had to do everything other than wreck him to stay in
front of him. I did, and we outran him on the restart – and we were really happy about that.”

But Black suspected that his time at the front would be short-lived. Myers slipped by Black on the next restart to take over the lead. “I did everything in my power to not let him pass me, but once a driver as
good as him gets up past you when they’re beside you, you have to give him some respect.”

As Black fought feverishly to stay at the front, his tires became quickly spent. On a later restart, younger brother Jason Myers – who had climbed his way up from 10th - was able to slip past Black to take
over second. The two brothers then held on to finish first and second.

“When I saw Jason had got up to about third or fourth, I knew it was going to come down to me and little brother - and there’s no one else I’d rather race,” said Burt Myers. “When we leave that garage, these
two cars - one and two is what we’re after. And tonight we got it.”

Black finished in third. “Just to outrun Burt on one restart, I was so happy you’d have thought I won the race,” said Black. “I wish we could have won, but I’m proud of everybody for how we did finish.”

In the Classic Muscle Sportsman Series, Cale Gale of Mobile, AL claimed the checkered for the first 20-lapper. Jordan Fleming of Mount Airy finished behind him in second. The second Sportsman 20-
lap race belonged to Mack Little of Kernersville with Derek Stoltz of Walkertown taking second.

After the first Sportsman race had concluded, Kenny Bost of Lexington rammed Noah Triplett of Tyro. NASCAR is reviewing the incident and penalties will be forthcoming later in the week.

Tim Vaden of Kernersville took the checkered in the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series but later was disqualified after post-race technical inspection. Billy Gregg of Lexington was declared the
victor.

And in the Summer Shootout Stadium Stock Series, Chuck Wall of Lexington and Andy Southern of Winston-Salem each brought home a victory trophy.
