Prior to a terrific fireworks display in celebration of Independence Day, fans flock to Mountain Speedway to take in the action Saturday evening. In a fight to the finish, Brian DeFebo of Berwick held off Jason Hearne to record is eighth Modified win of the season. Prior to a short rain delay, Mitch Hawk of Saylorsburg took the Late Model lead and never looked back as he cruised to his second win of the season and Kevin Higgins of Alden drove around the outside of Randy Schlenker to notch his fourth Street stock win of the year. Paul Morgan, Sr. of Mountaintop had come close to victory in the Factory Stock division, but he never sealed the deal. That all changed when he took the checkers for his first career victory. Following a shifting issue on a restart, Scott Adams of Lake Ariel grabbed the lead from Harry O誰eill and went on to take his eighth Four Cylinder victory of the year.

John Fortin, Jr. started from the pole position and led the opening circuit of the 30-lap Modified main event over Jason Hearne, Alan Creveling, John Fortin, Sr. and Brian DeFebo.

With Fortin, Jr. still leading the way on lap five, Fortin, Sr. got by Creveling for third and then DeFebo followed suit for fourth. Meanwhile, Hearne pursued the leader and completed the pass for the lead on lap nine.

Following a quick yellow on lap 10, Fortin, Sr. got by his son for the second spot and DeFebo slipped by for third two laps later. With 15 laps down, Hearne continued to set the pace over Fortin, Sr. and DeFebo, but that all changed on lap 25 when DeFebo shot by Fortin for second and then edged Hearne by a bumper to lead the lap.

Hearne fought back however, and led lap 26 before DeFebo retook the lead on the next lap. He never looked aback and went on to claim his eighth win of the year over Hearne, Fortin Sr, Creveling and Fortin, Jr.

Heat race victories went to John Fortin, Jr. and Jason Hearne.

Mark Tyson led the Late Model field to the drop of the green flag in the 30-lap feature. He led the first circuit over Riley Moczulski and Frank Hughes before the yellow flag waved when Moczulski spun in turns three and four to bring out the yellow flag on lap two.

Green flag racing resumed and Mitch Hawk, who had worked his way to second, grabbed the lead. However, only two more green flag laps were run before the yellow flag came back out for rain.

Following the passing shower, Hawk led over Tyson, Hughes and Glenn Slocum. Unpressured during the remainder of the event, Hawk cruised to his second win of the season. Slocum got by Tyson for second and Hughes and Moczulski completed the top five.

Bernie Uphold started from the pole position in the 25-lap Street Stock main and was overtaken by Randy Schlenker for the lead before a lap was scored. Kevin Higgins started fourth and had climbed to second in the first circuit and Uphold and Steve Shultz followed him.

Howie Conk grabbed the fourth spot from Uphold on lap eight, as Higgins pressured Schlenker for the top spot. Working the high groove, Higgins finally grabbed the lead on lap 10.

With Higgins still in command, the yellow flag waved on lap 16 when Schlenker slowed up in turns three and four. Conk got into the back of him and spun, which forced him to restart from the tail of the field for the restart. When green flag racing resumed, Higgins continued to lead over Schlenker, Charlie Castiglione, Shultz and Uphold.

Castiglione and Shultz kept trying to get second from Schlenker and ultimately; slight contact from Shultz sent Castiglione into the spin cycle in turn three with four laps remaining.

With the green flag back out, Higgins continued to show the way and even though the event was slowed for a yellow with one lap remaining, he effortlessly went on to claim his fourth win of the season. Schlenker finished a Mountain career-best second, followed by Castiglione, Uphold and Shultz.

Randy Schlenker and Steve Shultz were heat race winners.

Stephanie Moyer started from the pole and led the first circuit of the 20-lap Factory Stock feature over Paul Morgan, Sr. and Matt Mattern, Jr. While running two distinctively different lines, the top two battled side by side before Morgan grabbed the lead on lap three.

Meanwhile, Mattern began to climb toward the front after an early spin and overtook Moyer for second on lap 14. Moyer fought back though and it appeared that anyone in the top three had a shot at victory.

Moyer retook second and drove up along side Morgan for the lead and the Mattern rejoined the mix as well, but the great run ended for Moyer when her car went up in smoke with one to go.

With hopes of picking up his first career victory, Moyer held off Mattern to score the win. Del Morgan finished third, followed by Frank Katona.

Larry Spencer II started from the pole position in the 20-lap Four Cylinder feature, but he lost the lead to Harry O誰eill before a lap was scored. Jay Skupski held third, followed by Scott Adams and Tony Hilliard.

A quick yellow flew on lap five and Adams overtook O誰eill after having a shifting problem on the restart.

With Adams still in command and with O誰eill in tow, the yellow flew on lap six when Skupski got out of shape and collected John Banashefski.

Green flag racing resumed. Despite hard efforts by O誰eill in the closing laps, Adams drove to his eighth win of the season. O誰eill settled for second, followed by Spencer, Kody Welch and Hilliard.

Harry O誰eill and John Banashefski were heat race winners.
