In 10 weeks of racing at Bowman Gray Stadium, Burt Myers of Walnut Cove has been on fire – visiting Winner’s Circle a grand total of five times.

“Over here you’re a hero or a zero - there’s no in-between. So when you are a hero, take advantage of it. And hope that you stay a hero as long as possible,” said Myers after taking the checkered in
Saturday’s first 25-lapper for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series.

And to add to his victory, younger brother Jason Myers of Walnut Cove finished right on his bumper in second. “For the Myerses to finish one and two – of course I want to be first, but if I have to finish
second I hope it’s to the 4 car. That’s twice this year we’ve been one and two. I can get used to it,” said Burt Myers.

As the green flag fell, the two brothers fought side-by-side for the lead for nearly a lap. “I hit dirt coming off of turn two and turned sideways - and Jason was able to run almost past me coming down
the backstretch,” said Burt Myers. “I don’t know if he overdrove it or just lost grip, but he came into turn three and just disappeared - and I was able to clear him.”

“I love it when Jason and I run side by side. I know that it’s two of the best out here. I know that we can race each other hard but we’ll race each other clean,” said Burt Myers.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts “Madhouse Scramble” sent Tony Black of Lexington to the pole for the start of the second race. Black has made his presence known at the Stadium lately, leading several laps
and besting Burt Myers in a restart during the June 15 100-lapper. But Black was still chasing that elusive first victory.

Black had his hands full – Junior Miller of Danbury would be starting to the outside of him. The racing legend is known not only for winning more Modified races than anyone else at the Stadium but
also for being one of the most aggressive drivers to ever get behind the wheel.

But Black seized his opportunity – leaping out into the lead and never looking back to take the checkered. It was his first Modified win ever at the Stadium, making him the 126th driver to win a
featured event at Bowman Gray Stadium and adding him to the list of legendary winners such as Richard Petty, Junior Johnson, Glen Wood, and Ralph Earnhardt.

“It hasn’t even sunk in yet. It’s unbelievable,” said Black after the win. “You do well some weeks and then you do badly. And you can’t quite get it. And now it actually fell our way tonight. It feels really
good.”

“The competition we’ve got – it is so hard. When you’ve got the Myerses and Tim Brown and you’ve got Junior Miller starting on the outside of me – it is so hard,” said Black. “I’ve got to thank Burt
Myers – from running the 100-lap race the other week and outrunning him on the restarts. I really learned some stuff about how to outrun some experienced drivers here on the restart.”

Randy Butner of Pfafftown finished second, with Lee Jeffreys of Wallburg taking third.

In the Classic Muscle Sportsman Series, Derek Stoltz of Walkertown claimed the checkered in a wild 60-lapper, slipping by Ryan Robertson of Winston-Salem. Zack Clifton of Walkertown fought hard to
finish third.

It seemed like the entire crowd was cheering for Taylor Robbins of Winston-Salem, the teenaged daughter of Modified driver Brad Robbins. Robbins led 19 laps of the 20-lapper for the Q104.1 New
Country Street Stock Series but was passed on the final lap by Justin Taylor of King. Justin Taylor went on to win with Doug Wall also slipping by Robbins to take second.

In the Summer Shootout Stadium Stock Series, A.J. Quakenbush of Winston-Salem claimed victory in the first 15-lapper, with David “P-Nut” Vernon winning the second.
