“That’s the longest hundred laps I’ve ever had to run in my life,” said Jason Myers of Walnut Cove on Saturday.

Myers claimed the win in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 100 for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series - a race that turned into an endurance contest as repeated cautions led to the 100-lapper being extended
to 121 laps.

After turning the fastest qualifying lap of the night, Myers knew he had the car to beat. Then a lucky draw for starting position, which could have had him starting anywhere in the field, ended up
placing him on the outside pole.

During the first two laps, Myers battled with pole-starter Randy Butner of Pfafftown for the lead, eventually making his way into the top spot. At that point, his game plan was to play it conservatively.

“When you got a car that good and you start up front over here, it’s all about not making any mistakes and having good restarts - and that’s what we did all night,” said Myers. “I knew my car was good
enough. Unless somebody wrecked me, nobody was going to pass me.”

Joseph “Bobo” Brown of Winston-Salem took to the outside for the first five double-file restarts, trying to power into the lead if Myers faltered. But the #4 car of Myers held strong and maintained the lead.

After some mechanical issues took Joseph Brown out of the race, Defending Champion Tim Brown of Rural Hall moved up to second. He gave Myers a few challenges but ended up encountering some bad
luck himself, forcing him to pit as rear-end grease poured from the back of his machine.

With mist coming from the skies, the Modifieds headed back to the pit area while track crew vehicles dried off the track. When they returned to racing a few minutes later, a frustrating combination began to
play out for Myers. “The track got slick – but it was a combination of the rain and the speedy-dry that had to be put down for Tim’s rear-end grease,” said Myers.

Track conditions and late-race jitters led to caution after caution, extending the race to 121 laps of testing for Jason Myers. “It’s just aggravating when you’re that close to winning the race and you keep
having to go through the motions of another restart and another restart. Even though you’ve got a good car, nobody’s perfect. You can still make mistakes,” said Myers.

The victory was Jason Myers’s third win of the season. Danny Bohn of Huntersville finished in second, with Jonathan Brown of Winston-Salem taking third.

Fireworks flew in both of the Classic Muscle Sportsman Series races on Saturday. Derek Stoltz of Walkertown charged his way through the field in the first race, coming from 19th up to take the win.

Pole-started Bryant Robertson of Lexington saw his hopes at victory fade away after Stoltz bumped him aside during the first race – but fortune smiled upon Robertson for the second race. The O’Reilly
Auto Parts “Madhouse Scramble” draw put him on the pole for the second 20-lapper – with brother Mike Robertson of Winston-Salem starting right behind him.

Derek Stoltz, who had declared his intentions to win both halves of the double-header, began moving up through the field during the second race as well. He bumped Mike Robertson out of the way to
grab second and followed that up with shoving Bryant Robertson out of the lead.

Both Robertsons were enraged, along with many fans who felt that Stoltz’s actions were overly aggressive. With one lap to go, it seemed as though payback might be in store for Stoltz as Taylor Branch of
Lewisville was right on his bumper.

But a summer rain storm moved in at the worst time for Branch – and the best time for Stoltz – ending the race. Stoltz made good on his promise to win both 20-lappers, and fans exited the stands as rain
poured from the skies and Stoltz’s victory brought cheers from the crowd.

In the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series, John McNeal of Winston-Salem brought home the victory trophy after dodging a few wrecks to maneuver into the lead.

Both races for the Summer Shootout Stadium Stock Series were postponed due to inclement weather.
