After Saturday’s Double Points Night at Bowman Gray Stadium, the points battle for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series has become a showcase for sibling
rivalry.

Jason Myers of Walnut Cove grabbed the checkered on Saturday with a combination of a strong car and some good luck. Although Myers qualified on the pole, he could’ve potentially started from
anywhere in the field after the competitors randomly drew for starting position.

But in a stroke of luck, Myers drew the outside pole, placing him in a strong position to capitalize on a crucial Double Points Night. “Tonight’s a make-you-or-break-you night with the double points
and the 100-lap draw race,” said Myers.

After claiming the lead on the initial lap from pole-starter Randy Butner, Myers then held on for an endurance contest as the O’Reilly Auto Parts 100 was extended to 121 laps due to repeated cautions.
The victory boosts him up to second in the points.

Brother Burt Myers of Walnut Cove had his work cut out for him after drawing 17th as his starting spot. Several double-file restarts allowed Burt Myers to strategically make his way forward to a fifth
place finish.

Meanwhile, points rivals John Smith of Mount Airy and Tim Brown of Rural Hall fell back. Smith drew 19th as his start – and although he was able to climb up to eighth, it wasn’t enough to keep him
ahead of Jason Myers in the points. Smith drops to third.

It seemed like Tim Brown was in for a great points night as he followed closely on the bumper of Jason Myers in second place during the late stages of Saturday’s 100-lapper. But disaster struck as
mechanical issues arose, causing Brown to leak fluids heavily over the track. He was forced to pit and ended up finishing 16th.

Brown drops to fourth in the points, putting the defending champ far behind in his hopes to make 2013 his 10th title. Instead, Brown says his focus will now shift to taking as many wins as he can as
he pursues breaking Junior Miller’s record for most career Modified victories.

In the Classic Muscle Sportsman Series, Saturday’s races were wild contests that displayed the aggressiveness that the Madhouse is known for. But Mack Little of Lexington avoided any incidents,

making his way smoothly and quietly through the field to extend his points lead. Zack Clifton of Walkertown maintained his second place ranking but lost a lot of ground to Little.

Doug Wall of Pfafftown has turned in consistently strong performances this season in the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series – and Saturday was no different. Wall finished fourth to stay in the
points lead.

But John Holleman of Winston-Salem has also been consistently turning up the heat in the last few weeks. He finished second on Saturday to gain a few points on Wall - but Wall’s performances have
made it difficult to cover ground quickly.

In the Summer Shootout Stadium Stock Series, the twin 15s were rained out on Saturday. Both of those races will occur this Saturday with double the normal points being awarded.

And there will be lots of other exciting action: it’s the Great Clips Night of Destruction. Cars will be crushed in the Monster Truck exhibition, and the night will end with the bone-jarring 109 U-Pull-It
Demolition Derby. And as always, there will be racing for the Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stock, and Stadium Stock Divisions.

Gates open at 6:00 for practice and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Friday night and Saturday night. Ticket prices, directions, and more information can be found online at
