Without a raindrop in sight during on track hours, several divisions took to the asphalt at Mountain Speedway Saturday night. Double points were on the line for all divisions and the cone style racing format allowed drivers to choose his or her lane for the all restarts, which helped mix up the action. When it was all said and done, Brian DeFebo of Berwick notched his ninth Modified win of the season and Kyle Harvell of New York, NY claimed his third Late Model victory. Paul Morgan, Jr. of Mountaintop claimed his second Street Stock checkered of the year and Chip Wanamaker of Walnutport scored his first career factory Stock victory. Despite sustaining heavy damage in the heat race and then starting last in the Four Cylinder feature, Scott Adams of Lake Ariel took his tenth victory of the season in the division.

Wayne Szerencsits led the Modified field to the drop of the green flag in the 30-lap main event. Jimmy Zacharias grabbed the lead and Brian DeFebo got underneath him for the lead in turn three. The two touched and with nowhere to go, Dan Speeney caught wheels with one of the cars and slammed into the turn four fence. With heavy right side damage, Speeney was not able to continue.

Green flag racing resumed with Zacharias as the leader, followed by DeFebo and Parker. As the laps clicked off, DeFebo stuck with the leader until the bottom groove opened up on lap nine. With DeFebo still leading at halfway, Zacharias continued to run in second an Szerencsits worked back to third.

Untouched over the remaining laps, DeFebo took his ninth feature win of the season over Zacharias and Szerencsits. DeFebo and Zacharias were also heat race winners.

Mark Tyson led the led the Late Model field to the drop of the green flag in the 30-alp contest, but Kyle Harvell led the first lap, followed by Tyson, Riley Moczulski, Mitch Hawk and Francis Gross III. Hawk took the third spot and with Harvell still at the point, Hawk grabbed second from Tyson on lap eight.

Several solo spins slowed the action mid race and the cone style racing format allowed nearly every driver to restart second to Harvell at least once- none of which could prevail.

Running a limited schedule this season, Harvell held on to take his third win of the season. Hawk finished in second, followed by Gross, Tyson and Moczulski. Heat race victories went to Harvell and Moczulski.

After starting from the pole position, Randy Schlenker led the opening circuit of the 40-lap Street Stock feature over Paul Morgan, Jr, Chip Wanamaker, Brian Wozniak and Kevin Higgins. The action slowed on lap two when Bernie Uphold and Mike Garris got together in turn three.

Green flag racing resumed and Morgan took the lead. Higgins climbed to second and Wanamaker worked his way into third by the fifth lap.

Chris Burge broke into the top five and then ran fourth when he was spun off of turn four on lap 15. Several spins afterward took him out of contention.

With the laps winding down, Wanamaker and Higgins battled side by side for second and then Wozniak joined the mix. Wanamaker finally cleared Higgins and battled Morgan, who held on to take his second career win. Wanamaker settled for second with Higgins, Wozniak and Schlenker completing the top five at the stripe.

Del Morgan started from the pole by dropped to second behind Chip Wanamaker before a lap was scored in the 30-lap Factory Stock main. Matt Mattern, Jr. ran third, followed by Stephanie Moyer and Scott Sipe.

The only yellow of the event slowed the field on lap one when oil was laid down on the track. Green flag racing resumed and Mattern overtook Morgan for second.

Unchallenged for the win, Wanamaker took the checkers for his first Factory Stock victory and Mattern finished as the runner up. Morgan finished a career-best third and dedicated the feat to his mother, Connie Morgan, who had passed away from breast cancer. Morgan’s number is 56, the same age that his mother was when she lost her battle from the horrible disease.

Heat race victories went to Del Morgan and Matt Mattern, Jr.

John Smith led the Four Cylinder field to the drop of the green flag in the 30-lap feature, but the yellow flag waved quickly when Larry Spencer III got into Sam Danaher in turn one. With nowhere to go, several others were involved, including Jay Skupski, John Banashefski and Tony Hilliard, who suffered the worst damage and was not able to continue.

With the green flag back out, Smith set the early pace. With four laps complete, Scott Adams, who started last due to being involved in a heat race incident, overtook Heather Fennell for the fourth spot. He then climbed to second on the following lap after overtaking Rich Emel and Ray Fennell III.

A caution flag on lap 12 allowed Adams to close in on Smith. Two laps later Adams made his move and moved to the point. With 15 laps complete Smith ran second, followed by Banashefski, Danaher and Spencer.

Banashefski showed some muscle and took second from Smith on lap 17 but he didn’t have anything for Adams, who went on to claim his tenth divisional win of the season. After a rough start to the season, Smith finished in third, followed by Danaher and Spencer. Heat race victories went to Smith and Hilliard.
