This coming Saturday night, August 10, Mahoning Valley Speedway will be action filled with another full slate of short track racing at the popular Lehighton paved quarter mile oval starting at 5:30 p.m. Eight feature races will be run at the modestly priced regular adult grandstand admission of $12.
Much of the attention will be on the headline Modifieds as the powerful open wheel stockers will match up in a pair of feature events. Up first will be the postponed second half of the July 27 twin 50 Mahoning Modified Madness Series event number three. They will then run in their standard scheduled 35 lap race.
In the first 50 from two weeks ago Rick Kirkendall scored the rousing win over Kris Graver and point leader Eric Beers. However, rain forced the postponement of the second half of the meet which will now lead off Saturday’s night of racing. The field has been inverted and will be led to the green by Chip Santee and Todd Baer on the front row.
Afterwards a complete program of heats and features will get underway including Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks plus the American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association TQ Midgets will be on hand.
In the last appearance by the TQs at Mahoning Valley on July 13, track standout Earl Paules took the surprising win in only his second time behind the wheel of TQ Midget. Paules will again be doing triple duty as he will race Mike Roselli Sr.’s, No 98x TQ as well as his Modified and Late Model cars.
It will also be Checkered Flag Fan Club Night. Representatives from the time-honored organization, which benefits an injured driver’s fund, will be on hand to renew memberships and sign up new ones.
There will also be Kids Big Wheel racing at intermission.
Coming up in two weeks on August 17, all regular track classes will be in competition along with the 4c Super Mods starting at 6:00 p.m.
Mahoning Valley will be staging a two day weekend of racing on August 25-25. On Saturday, August 24 at 6:00 p.m. it will be a complete regular show of all track classes plus the Micro Stock Racing Series. Then on Sunday, August 25 beginning at 2:00 p.m. there will be a Big Car and Small Car Enduro.
