14th Annual King of the Mountain Entry Form Will Be Available Soon!

Mountain Speedway’s biggest weekend of the season is quickly approaching and the 14th annual King of the Mountain event is expected to be big for fans and racers alike, as a prize of $5000 will go to the winner of the season ending 150-lap Modified main event on Saturday, October 12. For years, the annual weekend event has showcased the talent of some the the best racers around and with extended lap races and larger purses for the divisions on the weekend's card of racing, the show is destined to be the absolute best of the season.

Similar to the last few seasons, each division will qualify and run their respective feature events on the same day, and all divisions throughout the weekend will be awarded double points to decide the divisional championships. The Modifieds and Sport Modifieds will qualify via time trials and depending on the car count, the way of qualifying for all of the other divisions will either be through heat races or time trials.

The weekend will kick off at the 1/3-mile asphalt oval near Hazleton, PA on Friday, October 11 with open practice for all divisions. The evening practice time will be announced shortly and the pit admission is set at $20.

In an effort to keep the cost down for both Sport Modified and Modified competitors, a six tire rule will be in effect, which basically means that the driver must start the feature on the same tires that he or she qualified on. A maximum of two tires will be allowed to be changed during the race, unless a driver would get a flat for some reason during the event.

The Modifieds will compete for the $5,000 prize on Saturday, October 12, plus the Late Models, Factory Stocks, 4C Super Modified and Dirt Modifieds will run extended lap main events as well the same day. The pits will open at 7 AM and practice will be at 9 AM, followed by Modified practice at 11:30 AM. Qualifying will begin at 12:30 PM.

Sunday, October 13 will feature a 75-lap $2,000 to win main event for the Sport Modifieds, plus the Street Stocks, INEX Legends, TQ Midgets and Four Cylinders will be in action. The pit gates will swing open at 10 AM and practice will kick off at 12:30 PM. Qualifying will start at 2 PM. The Sport Modified drivers will have to pre register for the event by mailing in his or her entry forms as soon as possible. the entry form for the event will be available on the track website very soon.

All entrants will draw for heat race or time trial starting positions on race day. Twenty cars will start feature events, and if needed, consi races will be run.

The top ten in driver points for all Mountain Speedway divisions after the September 29 racing program will be added to the feature as a provisional, provided they do not qualify through heat races, time trials or consi events. The drivers must attempt to qualify in both, heat (time trials for Modifieds) and consi in order to be eligible for a provisional spot.

Pit admission for and grandstand fees for the weekend will be announced shortly, along with the registration fees for each of the divisions on the racing card. Grandstand admission for Friday’s practice session is free.
