When Mahoning Valley Speedway presented the inaugural Octoberfast 2012 “Fright Night in the Valley” it became an instant classic as both the grandstands and pits where filled and the day of racing was brimming with nonstop excitement.
Promoter Floyd Santee is now ready to stage Octoberfast 2013 which is set for Saturday, October 26 with three select classes of cars that will contest in extra distance features and cash payouts.

The Modifieds will again be the headliner running in a 130-lap, $5000 to win main event. The Street Stocks will be back and battle in a 75-lap, $1800 to win feature and new to this year’s card will be the Dirt Mods which who will face off in a 60-lap, $3000 showdown.
Octoberfast 2013 will be the season finale at the popular quarter mile pave oval located in Lehighton.

Last year’s show was nothing short of fantastic from start to finish as each class of cars put on excellent racing. Northampton’s Matt Hirschman used early pit strategy to gain the lead and then went on to score the history making victory over Roger Coss as it marked the longest feature race every run for the Modifieds and the biggest payday.

A season high 34 Modifieds had signed in that day which included drivers from the NASCAR Whelen and Race of Champions Modified Tours as well as the always tough to beat regulars of Mahoning Valley. Five time NASCAR Modified champion Tony Hirschman was on hand as well. Drivers assembled from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The Late Models competed in a 75-lapper and the race was a barnburner between the past two division champions. Earl Paules of Palmerton, who won the crown in ’12, went door-to-door with ’11 champion Austin Kochenash in a race that was not decided until the final lap.

The Street Stocks raced for 100 laps and TJ Gursky closed out his championship winning season with a rousing victory in the long haul run over a stellar field of competitors.

This year the Dirt Mods will replace the Late Models. There is nothing quite like watching Dirt Modifieds racing on asphalt at Mahoning Valley Speedway. With $3000 going to the winner it has the makings for a great race. Since it was first announced in early September there have been nonstop calls to the track and the pre-entry list is already taking shape with some impressive names.

The race is being run in memory of Doug Hoffman and presented by Tom Ring’s Brown Daub KIA of Easton. It pays $250 to take the green.
The Modifieds will again race for $5000 to win, however, any Mahoning regular who finished the season in the top 15 in points and wins the race will be awarded an additional $1000.

The Street Stock race has been cut back to 75 laps this year but not the pay as $1800 will be awaiting the winner.

Drivers are encouraged to take advantage of pre-registering for the event which is $50. It will be $75 the day of the race. Please make checks payable to Mahoning Valley Speedway LLC and mail to 216 cherry Street, Walnutport, Pa. 18088. Must be postmarked by October 18.

Sunday, October 27 will be the rain date if needed.
