Saturday, October 5 will mark the final point races of the season at Mahoning Valley Speedway for all six classes, Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks.

And what a night it will be as the Modifieds will race for 100 laps and $3000 to win as part of the Mahoning Modified Madness Series (MMMS). All other divisions will run in regular length features.

As always a stout field of Modifieds will be ready to race. Eric Beers, who clinched the 2013 division championship last Saturday night, will lead the locals who never make it easy when outsiders try to take their money.

Beers, who won his second track championship, his first coming in 1992, raced to a record eight wins this season including a recent winner in the 93-lap Ricky Dorshimer Memorial. He is the all-time leader in extra distance races at Mahoning having with nine including a MMMS 100-lapper earlier this year.

Nevin George, Roger Coss, Earl Paules and Chip Santee will all be among the factors for the $3000 cash prize. Likewise current MMMS point leader Zane Zeiner will be looking to score his first 100 lap main. He leads in the special five race series by five points over Matt Hirschman, who is second to Beers in extra distance wins with seven, and Beers who is seven points behind in third.

The MMMS consists of five select races throughout the season. There is a $6000 purse to be divided amongst the top overall point finishers in the series. The champ will earn $2000 with $1500 to the runner-up, $1000 for 3rd, $700 for 4th, $500 for 5th and $300 to 6th plus all regular monies being paid for each night of racing in those respective shows. Zeiner won the inaugural MMMS.
John Markovic, George and Santee round out the top six going into Saturday’s meet.

This will also serve as a tune-up for the season ending Octoberfast 2013 on October 26 which is a 130-lap $5000-to-win event and final race of the MMMS.

Paules clinched his second straight Late Model title last week and did so in a record setting fashion as he set the new single season win mark with his 11th victory on September 14. Although the title is secured Paules has noted that he will be looking to up the win total just as well.

With this being the most competitive season in track history for the Street Stock class with a record 19 different winners, it has made for a very tight point battle and all indications are that the outcome will not be decided until the final lap of Saturday night’s 30 lap race.

Chip Wanamaker holds a slim lead over two-time and defending champ TJ Gursky with Justin Mooney and Lonnie Behler also mathematically in the hunt.

In the Dirt Mods Jeff Parker stands to earn his career first championship but first he must hold off current point runner-up Ricky Yetter.
The Pro 4s will be a showdown between Nick Baer and Kyle Strohl with Jake Kibler as a possible longshot.

This is the inaugural year for the Hobby Stock division and Corey Edelman became the first class champion over Jeff Biegley.

Grandstand gates open at 4:00 p.m. with heats starting at 6:00. Adult general admission is $20.

There will be early paid practice from 1:00 to 3:00 at $25.00 per car. Regular warm-ups will be held from 4:00 – 5:00.
