When local asphalt racing season begins for the start of the 2014 season, the 1/3-mile oval in St. Johns, PA will have a new name- Evergreen Raceway Park.
Currently known as Mountain Speedway, Hazleton businessman, Harry Buchman, will take over the lease of the property on March 1st and manage the facility under a new name, which incorporates the famed name of the track from its heyday.
Buchman recently released an invitation to all race teams, car owners and future track employees to attend an upcoming kick off meeting for the 2014 season. He wants to talk to everyone and work together on the future of the speedway before putting together the upcoming schedule for the season.
The meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 24 at Sand Springs Country Club in Drums. Those interested are asked to attend the get together, which will begin at 1:00 PM.
