As 2013 begins to come to a close, Evergreen Raceway Park Manager, Harry Buchman, and his team are working hard to assure that the 2014 racing season at the speedway and plenty of things are beginning to take shape.
The tentative rules for all of the regular divisions at the speedway have been release and the schedule for the upcoming season will be released by the end of this year.
Buchman has reserved a booth for the track for the upcoming Motorsports show and the speedway will also have a booth at the Laurel Mall Racecar Show in Hazelton, PA, which is slated to run from February 10-15.
A day during the week of the show will be selected and announced soon for a “Miss/Mrs. Evergreen” Contest, and race fans and mall goers will have the opportunity to cast their votes. The winner(s) will be announced late in the week of the show.
Several upgrades and special events are also in the works to help make the 2014 season more enjoyable for the fans, especially during intermission and down time. The facility plans to host “Evergreen’s Battle of the Bands”, which will give local musicians the chance to shine in front of an audience and also to compete against one another with hopes of being crowned the contest victor.
A total of two musical acts will perform during intermission during a three or four week period. The winner from each of those nights will then compete for the overall prize, which will be announced as the new racing season draws closer.
Any band or solo performer who is interested in competing are asked to contact Gene Ostrowski, the track PR person at gjtost@verizon.net.
Facility improvements will include new rest rooms, Concession upgrades, track guardrails, plus a multitude of other improvements across the board, all of which will begin when Bachman takes over the track lease, effective March 1, 2014.
