The much-anticipated season for Evergreen Raceway Park in St. Johns, PA is officially underway, as the new managers of the facility received the keys to the grounds on Saturday, March 1st. Now sitting in the driver’s seat and with a full tank of fuel, the team is focused on renovations, additions and restructuring to help build a successful relationship with their clients, drivers and fans for the 2014 racing season. Opening day, which is the first points event of the season is slated for April 27.

Many of the newly appointed track officials met with Track Manager, Harry Buchman at the facility early Saturday morning. The team walked the grounds and noted several improvements that would need to be made by the start of the season, many of which will be underway during the cold winter snap that seems to be stuck over Pennsylvania.

“Although we have the cold weather to deal with now there are still many things that we can begin working on right away”, noted Buchman, as he walked around his new home.

“We have a great group of people that are working together and in no time at all you’ll being to see many enhancements to the current buildings and grounds. As the weather begins to break you’ll see even more to the track itself”, he hinted.

Buchman said that calls have been pouring in from folks all over the area who offered a lending hand with upgrades and that he really appreciates all of their support.

“Once we really get things underway we’re going to schedule a work day at the track. Of course those who attend will be fed and taken care of. For many of them, they feel that this is their track too and they are absolutely right, it’s the communities track and we want them to be a huge part of it, whether it’s on work day or not.”

Now that the lease is in effect under Evergreen Raceway Park, track management will begin to work with Hoosier on the track tires for the new race year. That information will be released as soon as it becomes available.

Although there’s plenty to do in the next couple of months, Buchman assures everyone that the speedway will be ready for the first on track events of the year, which is two practice days that are set for April 19 & 26. Cars from every division are invited to take to the track for testing and the pit admission for those days is $10. Fans are also invited to come out for free admission to the grandstands.

Evergreen Raceway Park is just minutes from Hazleton, Pa, located on St. John’s Road, between Routes 93 and 309. For more information, including upcoming shows and news, please visit www.evergreenracewaypark.com.
