View Full Version : 03/30/14 - One More Try at Test and Tune for Mahoning Valley Speedway Racers

Mahoning Valley Speedway was victim to the weather for the second straight weekend as the scheduled Test and Tune for March 29-30 was cancelled due to rain.

Thankfully racers will have one more try at on track prep for the April 12 season opener at the Lehighton paved ¼-mile oval. Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6 the speedway will be open for another attempt at practice.

Saturday’s track time will run from noon to 4:00 while Sunday’s allotted period will be from 12:30 to 4:30. Pit gates will open at 11:00 a.m. each day. There is a $10.00 per person admission into the pits and $25.00 per race car. Grandstands are free.

The following Saturday evening, April 12, the 2014 season official gets underway with all six track classes, Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks will be in competition. The action starts at 6:00 p.m. and race-starved fans will be served a full dish of heat and feature events including four extra distance, extra paying shows.

A 100 lap Modified race will be the headliner of the night. $4000 goes to the winner and whenever Mahoning puts that kind of cash up over such a distance it always brings together a stellar field of pavement aces that yearn to have a coveted Mahoning 100-lap win behind their name. This will be the highest paying 100 lap feature ever run at Mahoning Valley, an increase of $1000 from previous ones.

Late Models, Street Stocks and Dirt Mods will also battle in extra distance features that will return very nice dividends to each respective winner.

50 laps will be run by the Late Models with $1200 to the winner. $1000 first place prize money goes to each Street Stock and Dirt Mod victor. Street Stocks which will participate in a 50-lapper while the Dirt Mods will go 40 circuits. Regular features for the Pro 4s (20 laps) and Hobby Stocks (15 laps) will also take place.
