Downs Ford in Toms River, N.J., a leader in car and truck sales, service as well as being one of the biggest Ford Racing Parts dealers in the nation, has signed on to sponsor the third mile paved oval speedway’s Modified stock car division for the 2014 season, according to track manager Diane Krause. In addition to backing the premier division, downs Ford will also supply pace vehicles and display Ford vehicles in the grandstand midway during the upcoming season.

“Downs Ford is a well respected dealership and has been serving the area since 1930,” Krause said. “We are very proud to have such a respected organization involved with auto racing at Wall Stadium.”

Downs Ford Performance Specialist Brian Worth worked hand in hand with Krause to put the deal together.

“All indications point to a great 2014 season with increased car counts, Worth said. “We are excited to get the season going on opening night, April 26.”

“I will be at the track as much as possible to meet the drivers, crews and fans,” said Downs Ford partner Frank Delia. “Along with the Modified sponsorship we are also sponsoring Modified driver Eric Mauriello and Sportsman racer Kenny Van Wickle. I am pumped to get the season started.”

Sponsorship packages for the speedway’s other divisions as well as individual events and signage are also available by contacting the speedway office.

A 100-lap, $5,000 to win championship race for Downs Ford Modified stock cars on Saturday night, August 2, is just one of the highlights of an aggressive Wall Stadium Speedway regular season schedule which will begin on Saturday evening, April 26. Professional auto racing will then continue every Saturday night; weather permitting, through September 27.

Among other special Saturday night events for the Downs Ford Modifieds will be Twin 35-lap main events on May 24, the 100-lap “Garden State Classic” on June 28, a “Cone Race” on August 23 and the double point regular season finale on September 27.

The racers in the Downs Ford Modified division are not the only ones with special events on the agenda. Competitors in the Sportsman, Limited Late Model, Legend Cars, Factory Stock and 4 Cylinder divisions will all have their share of special events. Late Model, Powder Puff and Demolition Derby events will also be offered during the season.

The complete schedule is available at wallspeedwayracing.com.

Two pre-season practice dates have been set for April 12 and 19 with tech inspection starting at 8:00 a.m. and on-track testing to begin at 11:00 a.m. both days.

Plans call for Saturday evening stock car racing events to run until the end of September featuring Downs Ford Modified, Sportsman, Limited Late Model, Factory Stock, Legend Cars and 4 Cylinder divisions. Each of these “regular divisions” will have some Saturday nights off during the regular season. Post-season events, the “Spooky Spectacular” in October and the Thanksgiving weekend “Turkey Derby,” are also being planned.
