The managers of Evergreen Raceway Park met with all of the recently hired track employees on Sunday and with at least forty people on hand, Track Managers, Harry Buchman and Ron Babula addressed the crowd. They introduced the employees to their department heads and Babula briefly spoke about the bond that both he and Buchman share with the track, from being fans there as children to being racers there as adults. He also stressed the importance of bringing back the family atmosphere and an overall great product and moral to the facility before noting amount of time and effort by many, plus the expense that went into making the speedway grounds and buildings operable in six weeks. With that said, they’re ready for the first of two practices, which is slated for Sunday, April 26.

The employees were given the opportunity to walk the facility grounds and speak to the managers regarding any questions. All seemed excited about dropping the clutch in two weeks when opening day kicks off the official season.

Recently, the brand new scoring system was installed and tested. Including the recently remodeled kitchen and concession area, many other enhancements were made, including removal of old buildings, Along with some green and white paint, Evergreen Raceway Park should definitely put a smile on anyone’s face that has visited it last during the Evergreen raceway era.

Although work will continue on a regular basis up to and including during the season, Buchman and his staff know that they have a solid foundation to build from and the team is determined to make the inaugural 2014 season one to remember.
