Months of work at the speedway have been completed and hours of fine tuning in area race car shops are nearing an end all in preparation for the first event of the 2014 Saturday night professional stock car racing season at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday (4/26) evening. Downs Ford Modified, Sportsman, Limited Late Model, Legend Cars, Factory Stock and 4 Cylinder racers will all be on the agenda Saturday with grandstand seating opening at 5:00 p.m. and the first race set to take the green flag at 6:00 p.m. sharp. Main events are set to start around 7:00 p.m. and fans will enjoy giveaways throughout the evening.
With defending Down Ford Modified champion Chas Okerson of Freehold leading the way, his fellow Modified competitors will have plenty to shoot for in 2014. Strong competition in the quest for opening night glory and the 2014 Modified crown will come from Holmdel’s Andrew Krause, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Adam LaCicero of Lavallette, Freehold’s Steven Reed, Howell’s Eric Mauriello, New Egypt’s Jason Hearne and Brick’s Shawna Ingraham. They are just a few of the area’s standout Modified drivers expected to go for the win and the season-long driving title.
The Sportsman division is also earning a lot of interest for the new season with car counts expected to rise. Defending champ Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck is expected to attempt to defend his crown while Kevin Davison of Howell and Kenny Van Wickle of Manasquan will be among those offering plenty of competition.
In addition to the Downs Ford Modified and Sportsman racers, the Factory Stock, 4 Cylinder, Legend Cars and Limited Late Model racers will all see main event action on Saturday, April 26.
The current schedule for the April 26 season opener will see the competitor pit area open at 2:00 p.m., with the regular afternoon practice session beginning at 3:00 p.m. and running until 5:00 p.m. Spectator seating will open for the first time this season at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for 6:00 p.m. with main event action to follow around 7:00 p.m.
Week two of the 2014 season on Saturday May 3 will again feature all divisions as the speedway presents “Fan Appreciation Night.” On this evening fans will be welcome onto the track to meet with drivers from every division as they park their racecars on display on the speedway. On May 3 grandstands will open at 4:00 p.m. with the on track party starting shortly after. Qualifying will start at 6:00 p.m. with main event action starting around 7:00 p.m.
Pro auto racing action then continues every weekend through the summer months with post-season specials also planned.
