FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT ON-TRACK PARTY SET FOR THIS SATURDAY (5/3/14)

With an impressive field of opening night racers in the pit area and loyal fans in the grandstand at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night (4/26/14), light showers hit the third mile paved oval just as qualifying was set to begin at 6:00 p.m. Although officials tried valiantly to wait out the precipitation, every shower that arrived was a little heavier and when thunder and lightning closed in later officials were forced to rain out the 2014 professional stock car racing season opener.

Rain checks will be honored.

Appreciation of race fans will be the main goal this Saturday Night (May 3) at Wall Stadium as enthusiasts will be rewarded with a 40-lap race for the Downs Ford Modifieds, plus action for the Sportsman racers, Limited Late Models, Factory Stocks, Legend Cars and the 4 Cylinder division on the rescheduled season opener. Also on tap for the Saturday night schedule is an on-tack party where fans can meet the drivers and check out the racecars while waking the famous third mile paved oval.

Grandstand seating will open at 4:00 p.m. and the on track party will start at 4:30 p.m. Fans who arrive between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. will be treated to a discount adult ticket of $15 and a discount children’s ticket of $5. Qualifying is set for 6:00 p.m. and main event racing will follow.

The Downs Ford Modified 40-lap main event is important in the race for the 2014 driving crown. Defending champ Chas Okerson of Freehold has looked strong in early season action as has Holmdel’s Andrew Krause, Eric Mauriello of Howell, Steven Reed of Freehold, Jason Hearne of New Egypt, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Adam LaCicero of Lavallette and Shawna Ingraham of Brick.

Also on the card will be the Sportsman cars, Limited Late Models, Factory Stocks, Legend Cars and the 4 Cylinder division.

Pit gates will open at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday; with practice starting at 2:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 4:00 p.m. and the “On Track Party” festivities are slated for 4:30 p.m. Qualifying is then set for 6:00 p.m. with main events for all divisions to follow.

Action will then continue on Sunday (May 4) as Wall Stadium presents the “Sunday Small-Car Series” starting at 11:00 a.m.
