This coming Saturday night, May 3 Mahoning Valley Speedway will host another of its famous 100-lap Modified races. The fan favorite event will pay $3500 to the winner. Race time is 6:00 p.m.

Mahoning Valley kicked off its 2014 season on April 12 with the same distance race that drew a solid field of cars and when all was said and done reigning track champ Eric Beers beat Austin Kochenash for his 10th career 100 lap win. Beers comes into the night as the current point leader.

As is always the case he will have a great group of opponents who will have their sights set on the $3500 cash prize. Coming off three straight weeks of strong finishes, Roger Coss Kris Graver and Nevin George are standing in the shadow of Beers and have the goods to score a win.

Last week 14-year old Kyle Strohl became the youngest driver to win a Modified feature and will attempt to make it two in a row this Saturday. John Markovic, Chip Santee, Earl Paules, Don Wagner, Brian DeFebo, Bobby Jones and Brandon Oltra can easily be parked in Victory Lane when chief flagger Bob Stull waves the checkers.

And, one of the masters of Mahoning long distance races, Matt Hirschman will be suited up and ready.

The lineup will be set via heat and consolation races.

Also in action will be the Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks plus the Micro Stock Racing Series are on the agenda with a full field expected to compete.

Adult grandstand admission is $20 with $2.00 off main gate price for students, seniors 65+ and active military. Must have ID. Children 10-years and under are free with a paying adult. Grandstands open at 4:00 p.m.

Early paid practice runs from 1:00 to 3:00. Regular practice is 4:00 – 5:00. Qualifying heats begin at 6:00.

One lucky race fan will have the chance to watch all heat races and one person the chance to watch the feature of their choice from a designated spot in the infield just by having a lucky stamp that can be found inside the Thunder In the Valley program book. Winners will be called out prior to the show getting underway.

Coming up on May 10 will be the first Small Car Enduro of the season. It will be held following the night’s regular features. Enduro info can be found on the track’s website.
