The battle for the championships are off and running at Bowman Gray Stadium. Now, the leaders have the task of keeping up their momentum – while the challengers look to seize
opportunities to grab the title for themselves.

Burt Myers of Walnut Cove has started off his season on a note that’s hard to beat – Myers qualified for the pole in both events so far and has tallied up two wins out of three races in the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series.

But even the slightest misstep can open the door for the fierce competition at Bowman Gray Stadium. Myers became entangled in a collision during the second race on Saturday, leaving his car damaged. The #1 car of Myers was
able to finish the race but not in the position that he would have hoped for.

“The second race was a difficult second 25-lapper at Bowman Gray,” said Myers. “We got in the middle of three and four and the 77 turned dead right – I guess somebody got into him. I don’t know what happened but it knocked
my toe-in way out and we basically just had to limp in from there,” said Myers. “I don’t know what’s going on lately – a full moon seems to be hanging around every Saturday night. It’s the Madhouse.”

But the incident was just what points contender Tim Brown of Tobaccoville needed. Brown was able to avoid any collision, charging forward to gain several positions. A third place finish in the first race and third again in the second
race was good enough to earn him the most points of any Modified competitor.

Now that the dust has settled, Myers and Brown are tied for the lead in the points. Jason Myers of Walnut Cove, who finished second and eighth on Saturday, sits third on the points ladder.

In the Double D Construction Services Sportsman Series, Derek Stoltz of Walkertown has fought his way into a commanding points lead. Stoltz charged forward to grab the checkered in the opening night’s race. Known for his
aggressive style, Stoltz won the first Sportsman race in last event as well – and then went on to take third in the night’s second Sportsman race.

But along the way, Stoltz clashed with the 2013 defending champion, Mack Little of Kernersville. A feud could potentially be brewing which may make Stoltz’s championship bid a little more complicated.

Ryan Robertson of Winston-Salem has turned in some consistently high finishes to rank second in the points, with Mack Little sitting third in the points.

Brian Wall of Winston-Salem leads the way in the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series. Blake Shupe of Mount Airy is right behind him in second.

In the Traffic Control Safety Services Stadium Stock Series, A.J. Sanders of Mocksville and Daniel Yates of Lexington tie for the points lead after splitting wins in the first pair of 15-lappers for the season.

The points battle will heat up this Saturday night – it’s the Kevin Powell Motorsports 100 presented by Triad CW 20. The Modifieds race in a 100-lapper with a full-field draw for position and the infamous double-file restart rule.

Plus there will be racing for the Sportsman, Street Stock, and Stadium Stock Divisions.

Gates open at 6:00 for practice, qualifying is at 7:10, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Saturday night. Ticket prices, directions, and more information can be found online at www.bowmangrayracing.com or by calling (336)
