All regular classes + Small Car Enduro in action

After back to back rainouts, Mahoning Valley Speedway racers are itching to get back on track and hopefully, weather permitting, it will be this coming Saturday evening, May 17 for fan favorite Pocono Raceway Giveaway Night at the paved Lehighton quarter mile oval.

Representatives from Pocono Raceway will be on hand, including track mascot Tricky the Fox, to hand out select tickets for the upcoming races at the “Tricky Triangle” which include the Pocono ARCA 200 on June 7, the Pocono NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 400 race on June 8 and the Pocono INDYCAR 500 Fueled by Sunoco on July 6.

The line-up of events will be regular distance features for the Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks.
Concluding the night will be the first Small Car Enduro of the season. That race will pay a guaranteed minimum $400 to win.

There will also be a Car Cruise that will be held during intermission and runs in conjunction with a Car Show starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Mahoning Valley Farmers Market which is adjacent to the speedway.

A panel of judges will award prizes to the top five show cars. All classes are welcome to participate. There is no entry fee and anyone registered prior to 3:00 p.m. will have free admission into the races that night. There are also plenty of activities for kids including coloring contests, a petting zoo and pony rides.

Coming up on Saturday, May 24 will be the annual Gene Bowers, Sr. Memorial 100 for Street Stocks which pays $1000 to win.

The twice rained out 100 lap Modified race will not be made up. The speedway will instead run Modified Twin 30s on May 31. Both mains will pay $1500 to win. Additional info on this race night will be released very soon.

Promoter Floyd Santee would like all drivers from every division to be assured that purses at Mahoning Valley Speedway are guaranteed and no one should have apprehensions of any type of payout cut no matter what.

Saturday’s adult grandstand admission is $12 with $2.00 off main gate price for students, seniors 65+ and active military, must have ID. Children 10-years and under are free with a paying adult. Grandstands open at 4:00 p.m.

Early paid practice runs from 1:00 to 3:00. Regular practice is 4:00 – 5:00. Qualifying heats begin at 6:00. Mahoning Valley Speedway is located on PA route 443, two miles west of Lehighton. Additional info can be found on the track’s website at www.mahoningvalley-speedway.com Also on Facebook at Mahoning Valley Speedway.

A reminder to all those with pit wrist bands from the May 3 cancellation that they will be honored for the next two weeks, May 17 and 24 only.
