Burt Myers of Walnut Cove may look back at this past weekend at Bowman Gray Stadium as the time when his championship fate was settled. On the one hand, Myers earned far more points
than any other contender. But on the other hand, he may have reignited a feud that could ruin his championship hopes.

Burt’s brother, Jason Myers of Walnut Cove, took the checkered in Friday’s Camping World 100, but he ended up wrecking early in Saturday’s 100-lapper – dropping him down in the points standings.

The checkered for Saturday belonged to Burt Myers. But it didn’t come without a price. Myers was running behind race leader Junior Miller of Danbury and delivered a stiff shot to Miller’s bumper in turn four of the final lap. Miller
spun while Myers grabbed the win.

Miller was livid at Myers’s aggression and promises that the old Miller and Myers feud is now once again in full swing – and Myers’s championship bid is at stake. “He’s straight up dirty,” said Miller about Myers. “We’ll just get as
dirty as he is, and we’ll settle it that way.”

“What comes around goes around. It’ll come back to him someday,” said Miller. “Payback’s rough when you’re the points leader.”

Chris Fleming of Mount Airy, who entered last weekend ranked second in the points, finished close behind Burt Myers on Friday to keep Myers’s points gains to a minimum. Then when the field randomly drew for starting positions
on Saturday, it seemed like a dream situation for Fleming as he drew the pole with Myers drawing at the rear.

But the results didn’t pan out. Fleming tangled with Kyle Ebersole of Hummelstown, PA for the lead and spun. Then another wreck gave Fleming a 20th place finish. He drops down to third in the points.

Nine-time champion Tim Brown of Tobaccoville moves up to second. But with two tenth place finishes, he finds himself far behind Myers.

In the Double D Construction Services Sportsman Series, Ryan Robertson of Winston-Salem maintains his points lead. But Taylor Branch of Lewisville finishes one position ahead of Robertson to cut down on the margin separating
the two.

David Sumner of Trinity finished second in Saturday’s race for the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series, keeping him in the points lead. John McNeal of Winston-Salem stays close on his heels in second.

Unfortunately, the rain caused the cancellation of last weekend’s races for the Traffic Control Safety Services Stadium Stock Series – but they’re back with a vengeance this Saturday night. It will be their annual 50-lapper – the
longest and most prestigious race of the year for the Stadium Stock cars.

There will also be racing for the Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stock Divisions – and the night will end with the always wild 109 U-Pull-It Chain Race.

Gates open at 6:00 for practice, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Friday and Saturday night. Directions, and more information can be found online at www.bowmangrayracing.com or by calling (336) 723-1819.
