Open wheel stock car racing will take center stage this Saturday night at Wall Stadium Speedway as the Downs Ford Modifieds will battle in a 40-lap main event and the Sportsman cars will compete in “Twin 25” lap feature races. On Saturday night, officially known as “Scout Night,” grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. with racing starting at 6:00 p.m. Boy and Girl Scouts who wear their uniform to the track will enjoy free admission and a “Pinewood Derby” race for scouts will also be contested.

The grandstand midway will be a busy place as in addition to the “Pinewood Derby” the Ghostbusters will also be on hand with their ECTO-4 Mobile and the Jurassic Park Jeep and Rangers will also be on hand. Photo and autograph opportunities will be available for all.

On the track defending champion Chas Okerson of Freehold will lead the Modifieds into action. Contenders Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Eric Mauriello of Howell, Shawna Ingraham of Brick and many others are expected to see action.

Sportsman racers will see double duty with recent winners Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Rob Hyer of South Amboy and Ken Matlach of Levittown, N.Y. leading the field.

Also in action on Saturday night will be the Limited Late Models, 4 Cylinder Stocks and the Factory Stocks.

Pit gates will open at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday; with practice starting at 3:00 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event is then set for 6:00 p.m. with main events for all divisions to follow.

Action will then continue on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. as the “Sunday Series” takes to the fifth mile “inner oval.”

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on Saturdays and Sundays through September with special post-season races in October and November. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
