Jason Myers was ecstatic to keep his momentum going Saturday at Bowman Gray Stadium – while Tim Brown is waiting for the day when his own momentum changes.

Myers stole the lead away from Brown and went on to take the checkered in the 100-lapper for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series. It was Myers’s third win in a row.

Brown, a resident of Tobaccoville, was the fastest qualifier for the night – and when the competitors randomly drew for starting position, Brown drew seventh as his start. Jason Myers drew eighth.

Starting on the front row was Michael Clifton of Walkertown and Brad Robbins of Winston-Salem. But right off the bat, they were involved in a collision as they fought for the lead on the first lap. Ronnie Clifton of Walkertown took over the lead, with Tim Brown choosing the outside lane and moving up to challenge Clifton.

Brown shot out into the lead when the green fell for the restart and managed to stay out of trouble just a few laps later when another incident dropped Clifton back to the rear. With a full moon in the sky, the night seemed dominated by thunderous collisions and mangled cars: Nearly half the field was damaged just 30 laps into the race.

Danny Bohn of Huntersville took to the outside in an unsuccessful attempt to grab the lead from Brown. Jason Myers then moved into second and had the opportunity to challenge Brown on restarts.

“I’m going to the outside every time until I beat Tim or until somebody passes me and I go back to third,” said Jason Myers. “I didn’t come to finish second. They don’t give trophies for second.”

Myers missed his first shot at stealing the lead but bolted ahead of Brown the next time a caution gave Myers the chance for a double-file restart. Myers motored ahead of Brown’s #83 and never looked back.

“Tim gave up a little time when he hit high gear, and when I hit high gear mine just launched down the straightaway,” said Myers about pulling past Brown. “Tim’s car just wasn’t 100% tonight – and mine was.”

Brown attributed losing the lead to mechanical issues – which the nine-time champ found incredibly frustrating during this season where he’s been plagued by bad luck. “The motor cut off on the restart and gave Jason the race. It’s the way my year’s been going,” said Brown. “We’ve been struggling a little bit and haven’t even won a race this year.”

Myers had to sweat a little as he and Brown navigated through lapped traffic. But Myers maintained the lead and went on to take the checkered – his third win in three weeks. Brown finished in second, with Danny Bohn coming in
third.
In the Double D Construction Services Sportsman Series, Derek Stoltz of Walkertown took the checkered in the first race after pressuring and eventually passing Wayne Hill of Winston-Salem. Hill took second, with Zack Clifton of
Walkertown finishing third.

Ryan Robertson of Winston-Salem limped through the first race after mechanical issues crippled his machine. But the “Madhouse Scramble” put Robertson up front for the start of the second race. He secured the lead and the win, with Michael Tilley of Winston-Salem finishing second. Justin Taylor of King took third place.

Brian Wall of Winston-Salem moved past K.J. Stimpson of Lewisville to grab the checkered in the 20-lapper for the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series. Billy Gregg of Lexington made his way up to second, with Chase Hunt of Lexington coming in third.

In the Traffic Control Safety Services Stadium Stock Series, A.J. Sanders of Mocksville and son Andrew Sanders of Mocksville kept it in the family – with each taking a win in a 15-lapper on Saturday.
