As the fast approaching “Mid-Summer Thunder! Where Dirt Stars Meet The Asphalt” show on Sunday, June 29 at Lehighton’s Mahoning Valley Speedway nears and will feature the Sunoco USAC Championship SpeedSTRs along with the National Slingshot All Star Tour and Junior National Slingshot Tour, it has been decided that a Test and Tune day is best needed to better acclimate the drivers and their cars to the paved ¼-mile oval.
On Sunday, June 22 from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, the track will be open for practice to teams with those cars only.
Pit admission is $10 per person and $25 for driver and car. The grandstands will be open to the public free of charge and the concession stand will be operating as well.
“The Mid-Summer Thunder! Where Dirt stars Meet the Asphalt” is a first time event being staged at Mahoning Valley and the interest is briskly growing as race day nears.
Some of the most heralded local and regional dirt track stars will be competing in a 45-lap SpeedSTR feature paying $3000 to win. There are also a number of top Mahoning Valley standouts who have rides making this quite the historic event.
The National Slingshot All Star Tour and Junior National Slingshot Tour will also see some excellent drivers coming into to tackle the distinctive layout of Mahoning Valley Speedway.

Along with the SpeedSTRs and Slingshots will be the Stage 1 Modifieds, MSRS Micro Stocks, World Formula Micro Stocks, Champ Karts, Junior Sportsman Champ Karts and an exhibition by the Vintage Division of the ATQMRA.
