The NYPA Midgets invaded the Chemung Speedrome 23 strong Friday night and put on a show second to none. The 25 lap feature slowed by several cautions was something to see. These cars are small and fast and the 3/8 mile asphalt was a great fit for the speed of these cars. This is my first trip to this area and to the track said race winner Buddy Sload, the track was fast and that was some great racing. Andy Jankowiak had a fast car and led the race several times and would take the white flag leading. The top three raced hard through one and two and with a bold move out of turn four it was Buddy Sload making the slingshot pass to take the lead from Jankowiak just before the start finish line to pick up the win. Andy Jankowiak would finish second followed by Matt Janish, Ryan Tidman and Brandon Zavaretta rounding out the top 5.

After a scary crash a week ago, Zack Curren was back and would start on the pole in the Sunoco Modified feature. Zack jumped out to an early lead but was challenged early by TJ Zacharias for the first ten laps of the race. Jimmy Zacharias would came from his fourth starting position and challenge brother TJ for that second spot taking the spot on lap 19. Jimmy would challenge the 94 of Curren for the remaining 21 laps and tried everything he could to make the pass but came up just short as Curren would hang on for a big win after that very scary crash a week ago involving John Wilber and Curren. It was a very happy victory lane as the entire Curren family made their way to congratulate Zack on his second career win in the Modified division. Jimmy Zacharias would finish second followed by Conner Sellers third, Camden Barber and Cory Mosher rounded out the top 5.

In the Super Stock division, Tim Gull of Elmira would pick up his third win of the season. Terry Potrzebowski would jump out to a quick lead but Lee Sharpsteen would battle hard to take the top spot. The two battled side by side for several laps of great racing until contact between the two would send both cars spinning in turn 4. Neither car was damaged and Both would restart from the rear. On the restart it was the 71 of Gullo on the front row with 2013 track champion Jeff Goowin in the 05. These two would battle hard buit Jeff would come up just short as Gullo picked up his third win of the season. Lee Sharpsteen would make a great run back through the field after restaring thirteenth and brought the 8 home third followed by brother Charlie Sharpsteen and Terry Potrzebowsli in fifth.

Mike Alcaro picked up his third win of the season in the INEX Legends. With a very impressive move to take the top spot from the 20X of Dylan Hoffman and never look back. Dylan would finish second followed by last weeks winner Alexandria Smith, Charlie Lohmeyer Jr and Gary Ham rounding outy the top 5.

Young Nick Morich of Horseheads made a hard charge from the back of the 12 car field to bring home his third win of the season in the four cylinder division. A great battle between Morich and second place finisher Joe Lane was the highlight of the race as the two battled hard for the win. Lane would finish second followed by Sam Warren, Jerimiah Clonch and Justin Hall rounding out the top 5.

David French would also continue his winning ways grabbing the heat win and then the feature win in the INEX Bandolero division. David is a perfect 14 and 0 going back to the 2013 season at Chemung and has no desire to slow down. The Frenches are great people who support racing and Chemung Speedrome as well as the other tracks David races at regularly. David picked up the win followed by Nick Morich, Teddy Bowen, Lars Mcelravy and Alex Bowen rounding out the top 5.

The kids bicycle giveaway was a great success as well thanks to Drivers Gary Ham and Jody Buckley who donated the bikes for the lucky youngsters who won them.

This coming Friday June 27th, The Chemung Speedrome Super Stocks will be running a 50 Lap feature that will for sure be the race of the night with all other divisions running as well.
