On a picture perfect day at Riverhead Raceway track records fell in qualifying prior to the Hoosier Tire 200 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event as Eric Zeh of Selden topped the 20-lap Charger feature, this after breaking a 20-year plus track record. Tommy Walkowiak of Ridge topped the 30-lap Blunderbust feature for his 53rd career win while Richie Davidowtiz of East Moriches won his third Legend Race Car feature of 2014 in a 30-lap contest. Jack Handley Jr. also set a new track record in Blunderbust qualifying.

In Charger time trials defending champion Eric Zeh broke the track record of Robin Vollmoeller (13.094) by clicking off a lap of 13.067 and the night only got better from there. Zeh earned a $100 bonus from Sonny's Collision Centers for his fast time. Roger Turbush and Scott Pedersen drew the front row in the redraw and when the race went green Roger took the lead with Ray Minieri making a quick move to second. The move of the night was yet to come as Eric Zeh on lap two dove under both Turbush and Minieri in one clean sweep to take the race lead. Following Zeh's lead was Chris Turbush who came from fourth to second and the chase was on. With the race going green to checker without a caution Zeh was able to keep a three car lead over Chris Turbush for the duration of the race.

When the checkered flag waved Eric Zeh completed his night with his second win of 2014 in his S&P Carting Chevy. "Man what a day," Zeh offered after the race "to be able to break a 20 year old record held by Robin Vollmoeller no less and then to win in front of all these WMT fans is awesome". Chris Turbush of Wading River was runner-up in the Chris Mohr Landscaping entry while Ray Minieri of Bay Shore was third in his Hometown Taxi Chevy. In addition to the purse money Zeh also earned bonus money from Jim Schaefer.

Just hours after receiving his high school diploma from Patchogue-Medford HS Jack Handley Jr., 18 broke Rob Bader's 2 year old track record when he clicked off a lap of 14.897 snapping the old record of 14.919. Jack was presented $100 for fast time by Sonny's Collision Center. In the redraw among the top 8 Tommy Walkowiak drew the pole and he took full advantage of a rare front row starting spot. Tommy broke to the race lead and for the first 10-laps was pursued by "The Racing Grandpa" Bill Wegmann Sr. A grinding crash on the front stretch involving Gary Caldwell and Ray Shannon drew a yellow flag. Both were okay. On the ensuing restart Walkowiak remained out front but Wegmann would be overtaken for second by Tom Pickerell, a long time rival of the race leader. Pickerell was able to keep in step with Walkowiak for the rest of the race but never was able to mount a serious challenge for the lead and win.

When the race concluded it was Tommy Walkowiak notching his first win of 2014 and as he noted he always does well on Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac night. "I've got quite a few of these trophies from Buzz on my mantel" Tommy quipped after Andy Hickox of Buzz Chew presented the hardware. Tom Pickerell of Huntington was runner-up in the Premier Utility Chevy with Jimmy "The Kid" White Jr. of Southampton third in the Busy Bee Pest Control racer. Tommy Walkowiak's take on the night included some handsome bonus money also from Jim Schaefer.

Kyle Soper of Manorville celebrated his HS graduation from Eastport-Manor by setting fast time for the Legend Race Car feature with a lap of 13.824 but Artie Pedersen III, who earlier in the day graduated from Center Moriches HS would draw the pole. Pedersen with his regents diploma safely tucked away at home broke out front of the 27-car field when the green flag waved; Vinny Delaney gave chase for the first lap. A quick yellow waved early on and on the restart Delaney was passed by Kevin Nowak for second. Just two laps later Richie Davidowitz made his way by Nowak for second with an inside pass of Nowak and Richie then set sail for race leader Pedersen. After looking to the inside for several laps, Davidowitz switched his game plan and made a move to the outside on lap 13 to race his way by Pedersen for the race lead.

Once out front there was no reeling in the Thriftway Auto Body of Lindenhurst of Richie Davidowitz as he raced to his 4th career win. Richie won on this very same night in 2013 for his first career win which was worth $1,000. Jim Schaefer presented Richie with some $600 in bonus money for his victory this time. Artie Pedersen III of Center Moriches was second at the line in his Sherwin Williams Paints entry with defending champion Brendon Bock of Franklin Square third in the Pro Systems Brakes machine.
