Motorsports fans will have a busy day of at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday (7/12) as stock car racing and drifting competition will make for a full day of action. The U.S.Drift organization will invade the speedway with qualifying starting in the morning and running until stock car practice starts at 3:00 p.m. A complete program of stock car auto racing will then begin with qualifying at 5:45 p.m. to be followed by both stock car feature racing and drifting finals.

Fans who have heard of the packed grandstands at past drifting events including the meet of a few weeks ago will be able to see this form of motorsports for themselves. For just a $5 ticket fans can watch the drifting qualifications from morning until 3:00 p.m. Then, during the regular evening program, fans can return for the regular admission price to see both the stock car races and the drifting finals. More information on U.S.Drift can be found at usdrift.com.

On the stock car side the Downs Ford Modified Modified 40-lap main event is important in the race for the 2014 driving crown. Recent “Garden State Classic” champion Trevor Alspach of Willingboro is on a hot streak with two wins, but he’ll see plenty of competition from recent winner Jason Hearne of New Egypt, Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Eric Mauriello of Howell, Steven Reed of Jackson, Chas Okerson of Freehold, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls and Shawna Ingraham of Brick, just to name a few.

Also on the card will be the Sportsman cars, the Limited Late Models and the 4 Cylinder Stock division in a special “Cone Race.” Special festivities will also take place in the grandstands to celebrate “Christmas in July” night.

Pit gates will open early in the morning for the drifting competitors with their on track action starting around 9:00 a.m. For the stock car racers pit area parking will open at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday; with practice starting at 3:00 p.m. Grandstands will reopen at 5:00 p.m. for the evening program and stock car qualifying will start at 5:45 p.m. Main events for all divisions and the drifting finals are scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

More action is set for Sunday with the return of the Sunday Small Car Series. Racing action on the fifth mile paved “inner oval” starts at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
