This coming Saturday night, July 26 at Lehighton’s Mahoning Valley Speedway, the mighty Modifieds will battle in a 100 lap feature with the winner taking home $3500.

With an excellent group of weekly regulars plus the added attraction of top notch invaders, as is always the case when 100 lappers are contested on the quarter mile oval it brings together a star-studded field of Modified racers.

Defending track champion Eric Beers won the most recent 100 lap event which was the season opener. Beers, who also won last Saturday night, is the track leader in 100 lap career wins with 10. Second is Matt Hirschman with eight, including four of those during the 2010 season.

Ready to challenge will be point leader Kris Graver who has been on a hot streak of late, reeling off six straight top five finishes which included three wins in that span.

Others looking to take the ‘W’ will be two-time ’14 winner Nevin George who is still seeking his first extra distance victory. Earl Paules has led the Modified points and sits a close third to Graver and would like nothing better than to take his first class win of the year in the big event.

The entry list will be impressive, in other words look for a great gathering of Modified talent. The starting lineup will be set by way of heat and consolation races.

There is more track news from promoter Floyd Santee who has announced that starting this weekend the Street Stocks will run a B-main. Because of the great car counts, which of course makes qualifying extremely hard for a regular 30 lap feature, Santee has decided to begin running a 12-lap B-main each week that will pay $100 to win, $75 for second and $50 for third.

If seven or more cars do not qualify for the feature, then the B-main will take place. Last Saturday night there was a season high 29 cars trackside with 22 making it into the show.

Late Models, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks are also in action.

Racing gets underway at 6:00 p.m. Pit gates open at 12:30. There will be early paid practice from 1:00 to 3:00. Regular warm-ups will be held from 4:00 – 5:00. Adult general admission is $20. $2.00 off for students, seniors 65 + and active military, must have ID. Children 10 and under are free.

Mahoning Valley Speedway is located on PA route 443, two miles west of Lehighton. Additional info can be found on the track’s website at www.mahoningvalley-speedway.com Also on Facebook at Mahoning Valley Speedway.
