Spencer Speedway officials were forced to cancel racing last Friday, August 1, due to a flooded pit area and wet grounds in general.

“The local weatherman reported last night that this has been the fourth wettest month of July since records began being kept,” stated Spencer’s Race Director Larry Steurrys. “To add to our woes it even rained more here this morning. We cannot possibly dry this place out in time for tonight’s NASCAR races.”

On the schedule, besides the regular divisions, were a special appearance by the USAC Ignite Midgets and the fourth appearance of the NYS Super Stocks. Now only five weeks remain in the NASCAR season at Spencer Speedway for 2014.

This coming Friday, August 8th is the 60th anniversary night. In honor of this event Spencer will be hosting a double point 60-lap feature for the Sunoco Modifieds. Also on tap are the Super Sixes and the Four Cylinder Scorpions. A special Driver “Meet and Greet” will also take place, with many drivers from Spencer’s past planning on attending. A night of nostalgia and old racing stories about Spencer Speedway is just ahead. Race time starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp.

Spencer Speedway is located just fifteen minutes east of Rochester, NY, along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson. Spencer Speedway is the local “ NASCAR Place to Race” for Central New York in 2014. Points earned each week at Spencer are counted into the national NASCAR Whelen All-American Points.
