MODIFIEDS IN TWIN FEATURES SATURDAY NIGHT (8/23) AT WALL STADIUM

All first responders will be honored this Saturday night (8/23) and the Downs Ford Modifieds will return with Twin 35-lap main events at Wall Stadium Speedway. Fire, Police and EMTs will be admitted to the grandstands free of charge when they present proper identification. Qualifying events are set for 5:45 p.m. and main events set for 7:00 p.m.

The Twin 35 lap races for the Modifieds are pivotal in the race for the 2014 driving title with championship points being awarded in both races. Going into Saturday night’s action Zack Alspach of Willingboro, Holmdel’s Andrew Krause, defending champion Chas Okerson of Freehold, Brick’s Shawna Ingraham and Eric Mauriello of Howell are in a knot in the top five spots in the title chase.

The Limited Late Model stock cars will also be in the spotlight as they compete in a pair of 25-lappers with title points awarded in each event. Bayville’s Mike Tillett is at the top of the list at present, but he is being chased by former champions Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood and Brian Doyle of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., just to name a few.

The Sportsman cars and the 4 Cylinder Stocks will also see competition in 30 and 25-lap main events, respectively. In addition, the Edison Pipe & Bugle Corp will perform and a First Responder Vehicle Parade will be presented on the speedway at intermission and a restored “Dukes of Hazzard” Dodge Charger will be on display in the midway area. The New York Fire Department will make a donation to the Modified purses.

On Saturday, pit gates will open at 1:00 p.m. with practice starting at 3:00 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying will start at 5:45 p.m. Main events for all divisions are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
