While all classes of stock cars at Mahoning Valley Speedway are fan favorites, none can boast the type of bragging that comes from the Street Stock division as each week car counts easily exceed 25, and 30 or more has become somewhat of the standard, making them one of the best support classes in short track oval racing.

This coming Saturday evening, August 30, the Mahoning Valley Street Stocks will also get top billing as the Third Annual Mike Krempasky Street Stock Memorial Triple 19s will take place with three 19 lap feature races.

The event is named in honor of Mike Krempasky, the popular car owner who passed away prior to the start of the 2012 season. His driver, TJ Gursky, won two Street Stock titles at Mahoning (2011-12) and is currently in line for an unprecedented third as he sits number one in points coming into this weekend’s race meet.

As a special tribute to Krempasky, the class will race in three 19-lap features, each paying $419 to win. The 19 is the number that is synonymous on all of Krempasky’s cars.

Gursky still runs the car that is owned by Sheila Krempasky, Mike’s wife. Sheila is spearheading the additional funds and contingencies that will be awarded to the field of entries.

Last year saw three different winners in each of the 19 lap runs and Kristy Arthofer was declared the overall champion of the night thanks to her three top five finishes.

The starting lineup for the first feature will be by regular handicapping via heat and consolation races. Race two and three will be inverted by a random draw with positions 10 through 15 as the designated pill numbers.

Also in competition will be Modifieds, Late Models, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks.

Adult general admission for this night is $15, $2.00 off for students, seniors 65 + and active military. Must have ID. Children 10 and under are free. Grandstand gates open at 4:00 pm.

Early paid practice is from 1:00 to 3:00. Regular practice goes from 4:30 to 5:30 with the races going green at 6:00.

Tracy Berger-Carmen will be on hand to autograph copies of her book, “Nazareth Speedway Images of Sport.”

A reminder also that a Small Car Enduro has been added to the September 6 program. Sponsored by Circle 1 Designs. The race will pay $400 to win, however, if 30 or more cars take the green then the top prize goes to $600 with the top six spots also getting paid.

Mahoning Valley Speedway is located on PA route 443, two miles west of Lehighton. Additional info can be found on the track’s website at www.mahoningvalley-speedway.com Also on Facebook at Mahoning Valley Speedway.
