A pivotal race in the chase for the Downs Ford Modified stock car racing driving title is set for this Saturday night (8/30) as Wall Stadium Speedway celebrates the Labor Day holiday weekend. The 40-lap main event for the high-powered stock cars will award double points towards the season-long racing crown. Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying events are set for 5:45 p.m. and main events set for 7:00 p.m.

Going into Saturday night’s action brothers Trevor and Zack Alspach, both of Willingboro, Holmdel’s Andrew Krause, defending champion Chas Okerson of Freehold, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Brick’s Shawna Ingraham and Eric Mauriello of Howell are in a knot in the top spots in the title chase. Okerson, Mauriello and both Alspach brothers have enjoyed the winner’s circle this season, while Krause, Ingraham and Carrig will each be fighting for their first win of the year on Saturday.

The Factory Stocks also have an important evening awaiting them, as they will compete in two points awarding 25-lap main events. Former champion and current point leader Scott Riggleman of Manchester is being chased by Tiffany Olejnik of Wall, Joey Helberg of Union, defending champ Ronnie Mullen of Brick and Jerry Koenig just to name a few.

“Beach Luau Night” will also see the Legend Cars, 4 Cylinder Stocks and the Sunday Series Champ Karts all in racing action as the third mile paved high banked oval celebrates the unofficial end of the summer season at the Jersey Shore.

On Saturday, pit gates will open at 1:00 p.m. with practice starting at 3:00 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying will start at 5:45 p.m. Main events for all divisions are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
