For the second straight week and sixth time this season, Mahoning Valley Speedway fell victim to rain. The cancellation came early in the day after the weather forecast showed no improvement throughout the afternoon and into the evening hours.
The Bob “Heavy” Scherer Memorial 50-lap/$2000 to win Modified race which headlined the night’s action will now take place on September 27.
The $400-to-win 30 lap Hobby Stock feature, that was also past of tonight’s race card, will be held next Saturday evening,
September 20. Also in competition will be Mahoning’s regular track classes of Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods and Pro 4s.
On September 27, along with the Bob “Heavy” Scherer Memorial race, there will be a Small Car Enduro run following all regular track classes.
Wrist bands from Saturday, September 6, will be good for admission to the speedway for either September 20 or 27 only. Adult general admission for the September 20 night is $12 and $15 on the 27th.
The final point race of the season will be held on October 4 as champions will be crowned in all six divisions. The top billing will be a 100 lap/$4000-to-win feature for the Modifieds. Rain date is Sunday, October 5.
Afterwards the attention then shifts Octoberfast 2014, October 25-26.
This year the season ending extravaganza is a two day affair with day one consisting of Modifieds, Late Models and Street Stocks. Race time is 3:00 pm.
The Modified race will be 130 laps in distance and reward a hefty $5000 to win. $2000 each goes to the victors of the Late Model (60 laps) and Street Stock (75 laps) mains.
The next day the Dirt Mods, SpeedSTRs, All-Star Slingshots, Stage 1 Modifieds, Micro Stocks, Sr. Champ Karts and Jr. Sportsman Champ Karts will be in action. Racing starts at 2:00 pm.
