$4000 to win Modified 100 tops racing action this Saturday evening at Mahoning Valley Speedway…Title fights on the line

Mahoning Valley Speedway will conclude the regular point paying season this coming Saturday night, October 4 at 6:00 pm, with a six division program of stock car racing which is to be headlined by a 100-lap, $4000 to win Modified feature. Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks will fill out the card.

Although three of the six divisions have crowned 2014 track champions, Kevin Graver Jr., Dirt Mod, Nick Baer, Pro 4 and Corey Edelman in the Hobby Stocks, there remains very close battles in the others.

Kris Graver holds a 28 point advantage over Earl Paules and 41 on Nevin George in the quest for the Modified crown.

It should make for a very intense evening to say the least as not only will that trio be fighting it out but there will be those seeking the $4000 pay day. Along with all of the usual track steadies there is a number of invaders that are expected to make the trip to the paved Lehighton ¼-mile oval.

Paules is also attempting to garner a third straight Late Model title and duplicate his 2012 feat of claiming two division championships in the same season when he also won in the Modifieds. It won’t come easy as Frankie Althouse is a mere six points behind him and also in the hunt is Mike Sweeney, who sits 29 markers back. This is one of the closest Late Model title fights ever at Mahoning Valley.

In the Street Stocks TJ Gursky is looking to become the first driver in class to win three titles. He won back to back top spots in 2011-12. Only Jillian Long has a chance to spoil his party. She comes into Saturday’s point finale 33 points behind. Taking into consideration that as many as 30+ cars have been signing in that past few weeks, it will be quite pressure-some on both to maximize their point tally by night’s end with the always stout field.

At intermission there will be Kids Box Car Races on the track. The 2014 Most Popular Driver contest winners will be revealed and presented award winning plaques plus the Baer’s Wheel Repair Heat Race Challenge top heat winners will be awarded a racing wheel courtesy of Art Baer.

Adult general admission is $20, $2.00 off for students, seniors 65 + and active military. Must have ID. Children 10 and under are free. Early paid practice is from 1:00 to 3:00. Regular practice goes from 4:30 to 5:30 with the races going green at 6:00.

In the event of inclement weather then Sunday, October 5, will be utilized as the rain date. 2:00 pm will be the start time. Updates will be posted on the track’s website, www.mahoningvalley-speedway.com, on Facebook at Mahoning Valley Speedway or Rainedout.com at Mahoning Valley-Speedway or call the track office at 570-386-4900.

Mahoning Valley closes out the season with Octoberfast 2014 slated for October 25-26. The two day racing spectacular features Modifieds 130 laps $5000-to-win, Late Models 60 laps $1500-to-win, Street Stocks 75 laps $2000-to-win and Hobby Stocks 40 laps $500-to-win on Saturday. Sunday’s lineup has Dirt Mods 60 laps $3000-to-win, SPEEDSTRs 45 laps $3000-to-win, All Star Slingshots, Stage 1 Mods, Micro Stocks, Sr. Champ Karts and Jr. Sportsman Champ Karts.
