he Downs Ford Modified stock cars will be in the spotlight this Saturday afternoon, October 18, as they compete in the $5,000 to win “Haunted Hundred” as they headline the annual “Spooky Spectacular” at Wall Stadium Speedway. Grandstands open at noon, with qualifying starting at 12:30 p.m. and main events set for 2:00 p.m.

While the Downs Ford Modifieds will lead the way in the “Haunted Hundred,” the Sportsman cars will compete in the $1,000 to win “Freakish 50,” the Factory Stocks will battle in the $500 to win “Screeching 60,” the Legend Cars will compete in the $500 to win “Blood Thirsty 30” and the TQ Midgets will race in the “Twisted 25.” The Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will also be on hand.

The Modified field is expected to be of all-star caliber. Newly crowned champion Chas Okerson of Freehold will led the way but is expected to see plenty of competition from local favorites Eric Mauriello of Howell, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Trevor Alspach of Willingboro, Holmdel’s Andrew Krause, Jackson’s Steven Reed, Shawna Ingraham of Brick and New Egypt’s Jason Hearne, just to name a few. Reports say that non-regulars, including Pennsylvania’s Zane Zeiner, Matawan’s Anthony Sesely and Howell’s Jimmy Blewett, have shown an interest in the generous purse.

The Sportsman cars, Factory Stocks, Legend Cars and the TQ Midgets are also expected to draw large fields of cars.

Competitor gates will open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with practice offered starting at 10:00 a.m. Grandstands will open at noon with qualifying set for 12:30 p.m. and main events set to start around 2:00 p.m. In the event of foul weather a rain date of October 19 is in effect. Fans will be able to celebrate the season with a free pumpkin, while supplies last, courtesy of Casola Farms in Holmdel.

The traditional northeast season finale is next on the agenda on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend in November when the traditional “Turkey Derby” will be presented. After that, all attention will turn toward the 2015 season.

The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while CKMotorsports@aol.com is the track’s email address. More information is also available at www.wallspeedwayracing.com.
