Mahoning Valley Speedway had great racing all season long and the popular paved ¼-mile oval in Lehighton has one more event to stage and it’s the big one.

Octoberfast 2014 will close out the season this coming Saturday and Sunday, October 25-26. Two action-filled days of racing will give fans their fill while drivers will look to garner as much of the over $40,000 purse as possible.

Not only is there a great payoff for all feature starters, but the track has been busy collecting contingencies that will be spread across both days.

On Saturday it will be Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks. Sunday will see the USAC SpeedSTRs, Dirt Mods, All-Star Slingshots, Jr. Slingshots, Stage 1 Modifieds, Micro Stocks, Sr. Champ Karts and Jr. Sportsman Champ Karts.

Modified racers will have the biggest stake to claim as $5000 awaits he winner of the 3rd annual running of the 130 lap feature which is sponsored Gary Lee’s Brown Daub KIA of Easton. Last year it was Zane Zeiner and in 2012 Matt Hirschman went home with all the cash.

Many others will be seeking to do the same this time around. Both past winners are entered as is a very impressive list of others, assuring fans that they are in for a great race. Mahoning regulars plus a contingent from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and elsewhere are on the entry list.

Late Models are running a 60-lap feature and will vie for $1500 to win. The Street Stocks square off in a 75-lap showdown that awards the winner $2000. Harry’s U-Pull-It has signed on as the sponsor for the Street Stock race.

Completing the Saturday card will be a 40-lap Hobby Stock main with $500 for first place.

Day two will be just as busy and equally star-studded. The Dirt Mods and SpeedSTRs are being offered $3000 each for the winner of their respective features. As of now both classes are represented by some impressive chauffeurs with a few even primed for double duty.

With the addition of the small car classes, Sunday’s racing will be plentiful from start to finish.

Saturday practice runs from 12:15 pm to 2:00 pm. A drivers meeting takes place at 2:15 pm. Heats begin at 3:00 pm. At intermission there will be a pick for feature starting spots on the front straight. A kids Trick-or-Treat party on track will also take place. Grandstand admission is $25 (no discounts), kids 10 years old and under are free.
