Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway will continue their relationship with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) in 2015 as the official sanction of the weekly Friday night drag racing program.

"We are looking forward to remaining under the IHRA banner," said Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway General Manager Melissa McGowan, "their weekly racing program is a great fit for our teams and drivers."

Lancaster has been an IHRA member for 15 years and is one of just three sanctioned tracks in all of New York. The dragway will remain a member of IHRA's North Stars Division (Division 3) and will once again send a team to the Summit Team Finals at Pittsburgh Raceway Park in early October.

"The Team Finals is one of the best parts of being an IHRA member track," said Dragway Race Director Sharon Hughes, "Lancaster drivers do a fantastic job representing the track and show great team spirit."

The 2015 season at Lancaster will be run under a new management team with a new vision. Melissa McGowan was named General Manager in December and quickly went to work setting forth plans to rebuild the track's image. Long time Dragway official and former racer, Sharon Hughes, has been named the race director for the drag racing program. Both women will lead the charge in reinvigorating and restoring support for Lancaster's historic 1/8-mile drag strip.

Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway will put a close on the 2014 racing season with the Dragway awards banquet on Friday, March 6 at 6 PM. It will be held at the Variety Banquet, located at 6114 Broadway St. in Lancaster. The new management will honor and payout the $13,625 points fund from the 2014 season.

Driver registration for the 2015 season will take place on Wednesday, February 11 from 7-10 PM at Gianni Mazia's on Main Street located at 10325 Main St. in Clarence. Drivers will be able to purchase season membership for the year, reserve pit pads and purchase tickets for the banquet.

The upcoming 2015 campaign begins Saturday, April 18 with a Box/No Box Shootout. Weekly IHRA points begin on Saturday, May 9 with regular Friday night racing beginning on May 15. Regular divisions will include Top ET, Mod ET, Bikes & Sleds and Street ET. The Quick 16 class will make several appearance during the season as well.

The Tuesday night Test n' Tune schedule begins on May 19 with the Junior Dragster program joining the show on a weekly basis on June 9.

Lancaster has several special shows on the 2015 schedule starting with Al Hanna's Jet Cars on May 29. There will be more firepower on June 19 with the Queen of Diamonds Jet Car. Lancaster's most popular show with the fans is the Nitro Night of Fire, which is scheduled for July 17. The "Sunday Niagara" Nostalgia Drags, car show and reunion will take place the weekend of July 31-August 2. Bob Motz's Jet Semi-Truck makes it return to Lancaster on September 11. The season concludes with the "Grand Champion Shootout" on October 10.
