Five of the six Wall Stadium Speedway 2014 stock car driving champions will defend their titles when the third mile high banked paved oval opens its 65th anniversary season this Saturday night (April 25). Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying slated for 6:00 p.m. and the first main event planned for 7:00 p.m.

The Downs Ford Modifieds are set for a 40-lap main event with defending titleholder Chas Okerson of Freehold planning to go for his 11th speedway title. Eric Mauriello of Howell, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Trevor Alspach of Willingboro and Holmdel’s Andrew Krause have all served notice they plan on improving their top five points finishes of last season.

Howell’s Kevin Davison is looking for a second straight crown in the Snap-on Tools Sportsman ranks, but top runners Krause, Kenny Van Wickle of Manasquan, Robert Sutphin of Brick and Matt Langbein of Lanoka Harbor are planning to step up this season.

After winning his first speedway crown in 2014 Edison’s Brian Spencer is looking to repeat in the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars. Big winner from last year Robert French of Howell and Dan Roslin of Little Egg Harbor, among others, have made it clear they have plans of their own.

Last year’s Factory Stock champion Scott Riggleman of Manchester and 2014 Limited Late Model kingpin Brian Doyle of Ronkonkoma, N.Y. have also made it known that a repeat driving title is in their 2015 plans.

The only division that seems wide open at this point is the Green Monster Insulation 4 Cylinder Stocks where defending title winner James Meyers has decided to vacate the driver’s seat and work in the pit area this year. With several returning veterans and a host of rookies invading the 4 Cylinder Stocks this season the title should truly be up for grabs.

The Dirt Cars will also make their debut during this Saturday evening’s season opener.

For Saturday’s season opener the speedway office will open at 9:00 a.m. so that competitors and crewmembers can obtain their licenses for the season and avoid afternoon lines. The pit area will open at noon for racecar technical inspections while practice sessions will begin at 4:00 P.M.

The complete regular season schedule, which runs on Saturday nights through the end of September, is available at wallspeedwayracing.com as are the rules and regulations for all divisions. Post-season events, the “Spooky Spectacular” in October and the Thanksgiving weekend “Turkey Derby,” are also being planned.
