It was a week to remember at Monadnock Speedway as the Tri-Track Open Modified Racing Series rolled into town and put on a show for the Racing Guys 100.
Thirty-six Modifieds from various series and tours descended upon the ¼ mile track at Monadnock Speedway for the “Riverside Reunion 100” Presented by - NorthEast Race Cars Tri Track Open Modified Series.
Four heat races and a B Main Feature determined the twenty eight car starting field in the main event on Saturday, with a first place prize of a minimum of $5,000 on the line. The night also featured a pair of consi races.

Mini Stocks, Super Stocks, Sportsman Modifieds, Lightning Stocks, and Young Guns were also on display Saturday evening.
The fans turned out in droves as the racecars packed the pit lane area for an expected exciting night of racing, and the drivers did not disappoint.
The night kicked off with heat races for Monadnock Speedway Divisions followed by the Tri-Track Open heat races.

Mini Stocks kicked off the feature races for the night and set the tone for what would be a big night.
In the Mini Stock 25 lap feature, Julia Raymond had a strong vehicle and was pacing the field when Matt Gauffin got into the back of her coming out of turn 2 with less than five laps to go, sending her for a spin into the infield.
Matt Kimball was out ahead of the field after the restart with Cameron Sontag breathing down his neck. Sontag bumped Kimball and moved him out of the way with 2 laps to go to take the lead and cross the line first. After reviewing the replay Sontag was penalized for contact with Kimball and the win was given to Eric Pomasko who crossed the line second and Sontag was moved back to fourth. DJ Lazelle took second place in the Mini Stock feature, while Matt Gauffin came in third.

The Modified Consis were next on the docket with the top three earning a spot in the main event. Kurt Vingent won the first consi with Andy Suess and Jimmy Dolan taking the other two transfer spots.
Matt Hirshman won the second consi with Mike Douglas and Matt Grubisa following him.

Super Stocks came out next to run their 25 lap feature race, Joel Monahan won his heat race and started on the pole. The driver of the 03 paced the field and the race went uninterrupted, green to checkers with Monahan claiming his first victory of the season.

The 25 lap B Feature for the Tri Track Modified event rolled off after the Super Stocks. In the B feature the winner had the choice of going home with a $1,000 purse, or the last spot in Main Event.
Mike Holdridge wasn’t having a very good night up to the point when the B Feature started. He’d spun out a couple of times and was on the outside looking in at the main event.
Holdridge pulled it all together in the B Feature and crossed the line first as the checkered flag waved. Given the choice of cash or a ride in the big show, Holdridge made a racecar driver’s decision and chose to enter the main event.
“I came here to race,” Holdridge said in victory lane following the B Feature win, and he’d have another chance to race later in the night.

The Sportsman Modifieds came out following the B Feature and gave the fans a taste of what the excitement is like on a weekly basis at Monadnock. The 30 lap feature saw the lead change hands a few times, with pole sitter Kim Rivet falling through the field. #5j Nathan Johnson, #97 Casey Oulette, and #22 Tyler Jarvenpaa were on the move, but #8 Keith Carzello put on an impressive driving display working his way from the back to finish in third. At the front it was #43 Bill Kimball edging #7 Scott MacMichael for his second win of the season.
Lightning Stocks ran their 25 lap feature in conjunction with the Young Guns. It was a first time win for the #28 driver Kris Kristolaitis as he edged out Richard Whipple and CJ Johnson. Dan Starkweather got the win in the Young Guns division out running Justin Littlewood.

With the Monadnock Divisions complete and the consis and B feature all done, the only race remaining was the Riverside Reunion 100.
Twenty-eight Modifieds lined the racetrack led by pole sitter, Todd Szegedy winner of the MRS tour race earlier in the season. Woody Pitkat finished 2nd in the MRS race earlier this season and he was on the outside pole on Saturday for the Riverside Reunion 100.
Pitkat’s #42 jumped out to an early lead, and led most of the race until on restart on lap 99.
Chris Pasteryak was racing Pitkat hard and both washed up the racetrack coming out of turn 2, opening the door for Matt Hirshman to take the lead. Into second, B Feature winner Mike Holdridge surprised everyone, jumping up to a podium stop without making a pit stop.
One final restart was all Hirschman would need, as the man they call “Money” Matt would bring home the victory in the 2nd Tri-Track Open race of the season. Steve Masse made a move on the final lap to get around Mike Holdrige for second, with Holdridge’s decision to race the main even paying off with a podium finish in third place.

Next week at Monadnock there is another special series scheduled as the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites come to town for Iron Mike Memorial Night. NE Racing Trucks will be back as well along with Sportsman Mods, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks are back, and Young Guns. Racing is set to begin at 6PM.
